Growing in Grace & Peace
Peace---St. Francis of Assisi---Volunteer Week A
Happy Fall Y'All!

As you may already know, there was a threat to the local high schools earlier this week. We are thankful and relieved that there was no incident yesterday at our school. It is always scary to hear of threats being made, especially toward children. Student safety is the highest priority for our faculty and staff each and every day. We are praying for the many who were attacked while enjoying a concert in Las Vegas Sunday night. “There but for the grace of God go I” is what comes to mind when any tragedy strikes at such an innocent venue. Please join me in keeping the victims and their families in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time.

It is conference week.  This is a very busy week for our school. Teachers are excited to meet and discuss goals for your child. We want to ensure that we are working together toward one goal – academic success for our students.

Calling all parents of preschool-aged children! We need your help to spread the word to local preschools about our upcoming TK-8th grade Open House on Friday, October 20th at 9:30AM. We are looking for parents to deliver informational flyers to their child's preschool. If you are willing to help, please contact the office at (925) 837-2977. You can earn 1 PEP hour per delivery.

St. Isidore Schools Bi-Annual Emergency Disaster Drill will be held Wednesday, October 25th. It is important that we perform this drill every other year so that our students, staff, and parents are familiar with the applicable policies and procedures in the case of a real emergency. The drill will start at 1:30PM. Details to follow!

Risk Management Advisory:  The Diocese of Oakland has sent the following reminder regarding DOGS AT CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS:

It is becoming increasingly more popular for employees, staff, volunteers and parents to bring dogs to diocesan schools and churches. Animals/dogs by their nature are unpredictable. Even the most calm, well trained dog can become agitated and aggressive when in an unfamiliar environment with large numbers of people like at a church or school. Children are inexperienced at dealing with dogs and may approach and treat dogs aggressively, provoking a dog to respond in kind.
Basic Risk Management Strategies

1.      Avoid the Risk: Dogs should not be allowed on school or church property .
  • A. Exceptions:
  •  i.    Certified Service Dogs (dogs for the blind or hearing impaired) or
  •  ii.    Dogs at rectories when not accessible to the general public.

We kindly ask that you refrain from bringing your pets on campus.

October looks to be a busy month. As always, the school newsletter continues to be the best “school to parent” communication source. Please read it each week.

Sincerely,

Maria Ward, Principal
St. Isidore School
Prayers
Let's pray for all those who are suffering from illnesses and especially the Smith Family who's grandmother went to heaven and the victims of the tragedy in Las Vegas.
