PBIS--Being Respectful Between Buildings
Being Respectful Between Buildings.  Our school is so unique and wonderful.  One of the things that makes us this way is the fact that we have multiple buildings on our campus.  Due to this, it is really important that we are all respectful when walking between buildings.  This means walking (not running), talking quietly (not yelling), making sure that we enter and exit the buildings quietly, and only press the buzzers on the buildings one time.
Partner with Parents
Without the partnership of parents, Prairie Crossing Charter School would not exist. This partnership goes well beyond attending Parent/Teacher Conferences and volunteering for class parties. There are so many opportunities to support your child's learning. Many do not even require leaving the home. Encouraging growth in academics and personal responsibility, and communicating with the teacher for strategies and developing common language are all part of that partnership  Here are a few ideas for you to build that language of caring for self, others, and the environment:
  • Set and discuss goals for your child using Academic Excellence, Personal Responsibility & Environmental Learning as the focus. Packing lunches, organizing backpack, practicing new skills, and caring for the environment.
  • Use the language - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be responsible & Keep it Green. Ask for and expect mutual respect at home and at school.
  • Offer to help the teacher or staff - at school or at home. Not sure how to help? Ask your classroom coordinator, friend who has had children in your child's classroom in the past, or go directly to the source - the classroom teacher.
  • Make a big deal out of conferences and student successes.  Focus on efforts and growth more than strictly grades.
  • Make arrangements to have children on time to school and not miss classes unless absolutely necessary.
  • At school - Reading at lunch, packing Friday folders, in class helper, making copies, cutting materials, etc....
  • At home - Preparing materials, cutting, laundering kitchen towels, organizing activities, etc...
Thank you so much for all you do.  Please feel free to reach out to school staff if you are still looking for opportunities to build and improve this home/school partnership.  By Creating Natural Leaders, we are all guaranteeing them a better future.

PSO Volunteer Spotlight
For our October "Volunteer Spotlight", we have chosen to highlight Lindsay James and Kristin Andrews, our Fall Fest Committee leaders!  Lindsay and Kristin went above and beyond to make this PSO celebration something special. From big brainstorming sessions, to researching and connecting with local vendors and restaurants, to coordinating the logistics of the event, they helped create a Fall Fest to remember, from the ground up. The PSO enjoyed collaborating with both of them. We are grateful for their optimistic attitudes and for their ability to coordinate a fun event for our PCCS community to share. Thank you Lindsay and Kristin!
