Attend the 2nd Annual CMH and SBU Pink Picnic!

Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) and Southwest Baptist University (SBU) will host a free breast cancer education event for female students on Friday, Oct. 20 at 5:45 p.m. in the SBU Sixth Man Club room located in the Meyer Wellness & Sports Center.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” says Wren Hall, director of community relations at CMH. “We’re looking forward to partnering with SBU to bring the 2nd Annual Pink Picnic event to campus. CMH feels that all women, including those that are college age, should understand the risks for breast cancer. At the Pink Picnic, we’re going to start a conversation about early detection and screening tools, so students can understand their risks and then educate others in their dorms, family and friends.”

The Pink Picnic includes a free T-shirt, food, fun, door prizes, and presentations made by SBU nurse, Joyce Schmelzle, RN, BSN; Bolivar OB/GYN nurse practitioner, Kelly Raney, FNP-BC; and CMH board certified radiologist, Jana Horner, M.D. All SBU students are encouraged to attend the SBU vs. University of Nebraska at Kearney Pink Out Volleyball Game at 7 p.m. following the event.

The Pink Picnic is limited to female SBU students only and reservations are requested.  Space is limited, so register today!
