Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The catastrophic fires and tragic loss of life in Napa and Sonoma are a sobering reminder of how vulnerable we are to a similar conflagration here in Berkeley. In the past several weeks, I have received hundreds of emails and calls from concerned residents who feel helpless in the face of this possibility. What can we do as individuals, as a community, as a city, to reduce the risk and protect ourselves from our worst fears becoming a reality?
