The chapter sponsored a tour of Pioneer Balloons Company for Kansas State University and Wichita State University.The event was an icebreaker towards greater collaboration between their professional chapter and nearby university chapters, KSU and WSU.

Members are abuzz about a tour of Grace Hill Winery this month, a tour and volunteer effort at Miller Recycling Center and a seminar of "New Directions in Systems Engineering" in November, a holiday mixer in early December, and their bi-annual members banquet in mid-January 2018.

  • In IISE's ongoing efforts to bring new and exciting benefits to members, this Fall we are launching a NEW platform , IISE Connect via Higher Logic. The forum is for IISE members to directly connect, collaborate and engage with other active members.
  • On Tuesday, Sept 26, the Atlanta Chapter hosted a Free Tableau workshop. It was the second of a series of data analytics workshops. Attendees met at IISE Headquarters in Atlanta for the workshop.
  • Dues rebate monies were sent out to professional and university chapters in September.

Columbus chapter holds Fall Kickoff Event

 
Columbus chapter invited three student chapters plus its professional members to a Fall Kickoff Tailgate Event held on August 31. The chapter offered one free drink and free pizza as an incentive to participate and mix and mingle. The weather was perfect and 33 members attended which included 20 students

Also attending, four VIP's:  
  • Jack Feng, SVP LeanSigma, CVG Corporation, New Albany, OH. Jack is also a past President of an IISE Chapter in Illinois and is a member of the CISE (Council on Industrial and Systems Engineering). 
  • Sandy Furterer, University of Dayton. She is a past Chair of Section 801 of ASQ. And, she is the liaison person between our Student Chapter of ASQ and the Senior Section of ASQ.
  • Maria Pandolfi, President of the Ohio State University Chapter of IISE
  • Cami Jones, President of the Ohio University Chapter of IISE.

Arizona State University Chapter holds fundraiser at Chipotle

Arizona State University chapter hosted a restaurant fundraiser at a Chipotle location near campus. With 50 percent of the sales going directly to the organization, IISE at Arizona State raised $422.50 for regional and national conference travel. This was their first restaurant fundraiser in recent years and proved to be a huge success. To help promote the fundraiser, the ASU chapter raffled off t-shirts and swag items from IISE, ASU Gore, GE Healthcare, and Intel. The chapter expressly thanked Chipotle for hosting the fundraiser.

Morgan State University chapter happenings

Northrop Grumman Tour
On April 21 five Industrial Engineering students participated in a Northrop Grumman "Blue Line" Plant Tour hosted by former IISE Morgan State University chapter president ,Theodore Nehemias. They were also given a tour of one of the many test planes.

2017 IISE Conference and Expo
On May 20 eight chapter members visited Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the IISE Annual Conference & Expo. The conference began with the Volunteer Leadership Training Session (VOLT). The Conference consisted of networking opportunities as well as sessions to see the aspects of Industrial Engineering applied in the work force. 

 

Over 200 students attend  IISE Virtual Career Fair

Offering another great benefit to student members, IISE held a Virtual Career Fair. There were 645 conversations between companies and the students. 
Students were able to get ahead on their job search by browsing job openings and meeting with recruiters from leading companies below:
