Wild West Uniform Buyout Day: Friday, October 6th
In honor of the Lucky 13: Auction & Gala we are celebrating this Friday with Summit students! Friday, October 6th is a $2 uniform buyout day. The theme is Wild West, cowboy/cowgirl, western style (ie: jeans, cowboy hats, boots, bandanas, sheriff badges, etc). Toy guys, or other weapons, will not be allowed on campus.
The buyout is optional. Student who do not wish to buyout/dress in western/cowboy attire may wear Summit uniforms or Summit Spirit Wear at no cost.
Please note: The Lucky 13: Auction & Gala is not until NEXT FRIDAY, October 13th. We are celebrating with students a week early so we can use pictures from the buyout day as decor at the event.

Late Start at 9:30 am on Wednesday, October 11th
Each month The Summit will have a 9:30 a.m. late start Wednesday morning. During these late start mornings, Summit faculty and staff will continue to devote time to curriculum review and finalizing the self-study portion of our re-accredition process through
ISACS.
The next late start day is Wednesday, October 11. Fun Zone will maintain the normal starting time of 7:30 a.m. and will be extended to 9:15 a.m., at which time students will join their teachers to begin their daily class routines. The official start time for the school day is 9:30 a.m. You are encouraged to drop off your child(ren) between 9:15-9:30 a.m. just prior to the start of classes. However, families who need to use Fun Zone from 8:30-9:15 a.m. may do so at no cost. Questions?

You're invited to the Lucky 13 Annual Auction & Gala Friday, October 13th at Darr Agricultural Center
Grab your boots and get ready to party 'til the cows come home! This year's Annual Auction &
Gala is an old west saloon style party complete with open bar (beer, wine, & soda. Cash bar for mixed drinks.), gaming, music, appetizers, raffles, and silent and live auctions.
Tickets are $100 per person (
sponsorships are still available) and guests can belly up to the open bar, boot scoot to the music, or try their luck at the gaming tables.
The party begins at 7:00 p.m. at Darr Agricultural Center.
Sponsors, don't forget to arrive early for the 6:00 p.m. sponsors only pre-party! The Leaky Roof Meadery will be serving samples of their delicious mead and Mr. Powers' Band The Mudflaps will be performing, for sponsors only, so make sure you're there!

Help Needed: Painting Book Shelves
Painting help needed ASAP! The Durr Family has generously built and donated 8 bookshelves for the Early Learner's library. They need to be primed and painted. The paint, primer, and a few brushes are available, we just need some parents to come paint. Right now the bookshelves are taking up valuable space in the 3rd floor Community Room, so the sooner we can get them painted and ready for books the better. Contact

High School Service Learning: Pennies for Patients
September was Blood Cancer Awareness Month and the high school service learning class raised money for Pennies for Patients (
part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society). High School was astounded by the response to their fundraiser in the classes.
Calculations were still being made at time of publishing, but it appears that....
5th Grade won the Popsicle party for most money donated!
And the group's goal of $750 has been achieved!
Specific numbers will be announced next week. Thank you to everyone who donated!

Don't Forget to Donate to Your Class Fund
It's not too late to make your donation to your classroom fund for the 2017-2018 school year. Class funds are used for a variety of classroom reasons throughout the year. From teacher gifts, to class supplies, to class projects, and more. Instead of asking parents to donate for every single project, a suggested donation of $50 per student (more or less is appreciated as well) covers the entire school year. You may drop off your class fund donation to the SPO Payment Box (by the trophy cases in the lobby) any time. Just make sure you note which classroom the money is to go towards. Questions? Upper School Hosts Halloween Carnival, Saturday 10/28
The 2017 Summit Halloween Carnival will be on Saturday, October 28th from 5-7 p.m. here at The Summit Prep. This is an annual event hosted by the Upper School students for all Summit students and community members. Students are welcome to dress in costume and enjoy the games and activities throughout the school. Parents encouraged to stay with students for the event. More details coming soon, but be sure to mark your calendars for an evening of Summit fun!

Summit Family Business Directory
The Summit Parent Organization (SPO) would like to build the relationships within The Summit community by offering families with businesses the opportunity to list their business in the Summit Business Directory. This will allow us to support one another through referrals and patronage.
Participation is completely optional and free of charge. Additionally, teachers are excited at the prospect of the Business Directory to have as a reference for potential guest speakers in their classrooms &/or field trip opportunities. Box Tops, Labels for Education, & Tyson Project A+
Don't forget to keep collecting all your box tops, labels, and Tyson product codes! We have a clear bucket on the front desk counter to collect these labels all year long. Please be sure to ask your family and friends to collect theirs as well, The Summit gets credit for every label turned in!
Fun fact: In year's past The Summit has collected over
7600 labels in a single year! 4000 box tops, just shy of 2000 Best choice labels, and 1600+ Labels for Education! Let's beat that this year!
