Three District Schools Earn "Schools of Hope" Grants From Florida Department of Education
Three  School District of Palm Beach County schools -  Gove Elementary School Palm Beach Lakes High School and
West Riviera Elementary School - will receive grants totaling $7.6 million from the Florida Department of Education as part of the "Schools of Hope" program.
 
Palm Beach Lakes High will receive $4.6 million, West Riviera Elementary will receive $1.5 million, and Gove Elementary will receive $1.49 million, for a total of $7.6 million from the Department of Education. Each school submitted competitive grants for Schools of Hope money, and will use the funds for everything from professional development for teachers to wraparound social services for students.  Read more...

Gabriella Hotaling, a senior at Palm Beach Central High School, was recently named the new Student School Board Representative. Hotaling made her debut at the Board meeting on September 27.
 
Hotaling is going into her third year as a student government representative, and decided to take on the position of Student Board Representative because of her passion for making change and ensuring that students' voices were well represented.
 
The student representative position allows Hotaling to be the voice of Palm Beach County students, taking their input and opinions to put before the Board and community.  Read more...

The Jury is in: Pre-Law Academy Students Valued Chance to Watch Court in Session
The Fourth District Court of Appeal was not in their familiar West Palm Beach courthouse, but rather in the Boardroom of the Fulton-Holland Educational Services Center on Tuesday, October 17 as a unique opportunity arranged by the District's Department of Choice and Career Options for students to experience the procedure and unfolding deliberations involved in three separate legal cases currently on appeal.

Students in the audience represented L.C. Swain Middle, Palm Beach Lakes, Atlantic and Santaluces High Schools. They were able to hear arguments for appeal, made before three judges of the Florida's Fourth District Court of Appeal, anchored by the Honorable Martha C. Warner.
