Join Conversations on Identity and Belonging at the Next ED Talk, and Register Now for Creating Connections
DPS offers a variety of values-based leadership opportunities to support all educators in growing as leaders, both professionally and personally, by teaching intentional strategies and creating a strong culture. Join the Culture, Equity and Leadership Team (CELT) for these values-based leadership opportunities:

ED Talk: Conversations on Identity and Belonging: Oct. 17

Individuals from the Latinx, Chicanx and Hispanix communities will gather to discuss how we can better raise awareness around the diversity of our different communities and create a culture of belonging for our students, educators and community members. RSVP here.

Living Our DPS Honoree

Valeria Nevarez
Teacher, Barnum Elementary
Students First

"When the Scores soccer program ended last year, Valeria Nevarez of Barnum Elementary knew how devastated the students were. Soccer motivated many students on the field and in the classroom. Ms. Nevarez made a plan to keep after-school programs alive for her students, living the value of Students First. She organized a boys and girls soccer team and arranged with other schools to set up games.

Ms. Nevarez reached out to get the program started and was able to get other staff members to support her with coaching and make sure students had transportation to other schools to play games. She has even applied for grants to help purchase the equipment students needed. Without Ms. Nevarez and her dedication to the students and soccer, our students would miss the opportunity to participate in extracurricular soccer. With Ms. Nevarez's support of the program, we have full boys and girls teams who are proud to be soccer players."
