OUR CLASS OF 2017 - SUSTAINABLE MARYLAND CERTIFIED!
We are pleased to announce the following 14 municipalities achieved Sustainable Maryland Certified status in 2017: 
  • City of Takoma Park (Montgomery County; first certified in 2014) Named our 2017 Sustainability Champion for amassing more points than any other community this year.
  • Town of Mount Airy (Carroll/Frederick Counties - the first certified municipality in Carrol County; NEW)
 
REGISTER NOW! "BUILDING COMMUNITY RESILIENCE" WORKSHOPS IN NOVEMBER

The Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland will host Sustainable Maryland's annual Leadership Training workshops in November. This training series fosters leadership skills to engage diverse stakeholders, reduce contention, and garner support for sustainability initiatives.

This year's workshop topic, BUILDING COMMUNITY RESILIENCE, will incorporate examples, stories and tools that will help communities: define resilience; foster strategies to develop resilience actions; and improve participants' ability to communicate the importance of resilience to residents.

LOCAL AFFILIATE MEMBER BENEFITS:

* Training - provided locally by Keep America Beautiful National Trainers including manuals, step-by-step instructions on developing your local programs and activities, and other resources to assist in initial Affiliate development

* Tools and Programs - access to resources, like the Community Appearance Index and Focus Area Survey, to help track the impact of your cleaning and greening initiatives.

* Grants - eligibility for national funding programs offered by Keep America Beautiful and their partners and priority consideration for Clean Up & Green Up Maryland grants offered by Keep Maryland Beautiful through the Maryland Environmental Trust.
