HART TRAIN TESTING PICKS UP THE PACE!

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation and its contractor Ansaldo Honolulu have been turning up the speed in terms of train testing!  Initial tests were conducted at no more than three miles per hour. After successful diagnostics, the speeds were ramped up to 40 miles per hour, with testing at the maximum speed of 55 miles per hours expected soon!

The higher speed tests caught the attention of local media who visited HART's Rail Operations Center in Waipahu to get the latest updates.

So far, trains have been testing for about 10 days.  Each time it makes a pass over the energized section in Waipahu, it draws a number of on-lookers hoping to catch a glimpse of Honolulu's Rail Project in action.  The excitement is building!!!

SAFETY REMINDER:
BE SAFETY CONSCIOUS IN ALL
CONSTRUCTION ZONES!

As construction continues along the length of  the Honolulu Rail Project, HART reminds you to stay alert and minimize distractions as you drive through ALL constructions zones. Make it a point to direct your full attention to the roadway and obey any traffic flaggers that may be in the area.  Avoid using your mobile device, changing radio stations, eating, or any other distractions that might take your attention away from the safe operation of your vehicle.

Remind passengers that your vehicle is entering a construction zone, and ask them to limit distractions to the driver.  Also, please be aware that the posted speed limits in these areas are adjusted to ensure the safety of both drivers and work crews.  In the construction zones along Kamehameha Highway, the adjusted speed limit is 25 miles-per-hour.

HART thanks you for your patience and understanding as crews work to complete the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.
