Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As you are aware, Hurricane Maria has had a devastating impact in Puerto Rico. The Caribbean Primate Research Center (CPRC) facilities, both Sabana Seca Field Station and Cayo Santiago, were no exception. The mounting catastrophic damage continues to be assessed and relief efforts are ongoing.
Within a few hours after the height of the hurricane and while risking their own lives, the dedicated staff at CPRC initiated the recovery efforts. A
ll animals have been secured along with food/water supplies despite the extremely difficult situation.
What the staff has accomplished with minimal to no resources, is the result of heroic efforts.
However, there is a lot more that needs to be done to stabilize and operationalize both facilities.
Recovery will not be possible without the
generous
support and contributions of the organizations and individuals who recognize the unique role of CPRC in serving the biomedical and behavioral research community.
