Our office has moved down the hall to a temporary space. We are still located inside the Rail River Folk School, just down the hall a bit in the middle of the building. Look for our sign on the door! We will be in this location until further notice.We will move into the Watermark Art Center's new building in downtown Bemidji when it is ready.

Anishinaabe Arts Initiative Grant for Native American Artists!

Open to Native American artists in all arts disciplines residing in the following counties: Becker, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Hubbard, Itasca, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, or Roseau. Artists can apply for up to $1,000 to fund costs associated with the exhibition, performance, or production of a creative work; purchase of materials or equipment necessary for a creative work; educational opportunities such as workshops, conferences or mentorships; or other career-enhancing projects or opportunities for artists.

Learn how to illustrate a story with Amanda Kastner, an illustrating storyteller and designer from the Northwoods. This class will take you through the process of creating a character, giving that character a personality, and building a scene. You will leave this four-session class with one short story and the skills to create more.

Arts Access Grant Recipients

On September 18, 2017, the Region 2 Arts Council Board of Directors granted $44,200 in Arts and Cultural Heritage funds to local schools and non-profit organizations for the creation and production of arts activities that benefit community members residing in our five-county region.
 
Bagley Area Arts Collaborative received $5,625 for "Arts Unlimited," a series of new art workshops for 2018.
 
Bemidji Community Theater received $6,000 to produce Rogers and Hammerstein's musical The Sound of Music.
 
Bemidji Sculpture Walk received $5,435 for the upcoming Fiberglass Dog series in which local artists will paint fiberglass dogs to be installed throughout downtown Bemidji.
 
Bemidji Symphony Orchestra received $6,000 to produce "A Woman's Role," a movie night and concert featuring composer Jennifer Higdon's "Blue Cathedral" and guest cellist Hannah Holman performing pieces highlighting famous female cellists.
 
Clearbrook- Gonvick Elementary received $3,705 for students in grades 3-6 to see a concert by Ladysmith Black Mambazo at the Ordway Center for the Arts and to visit nearby art museums.
 
Clearbrook Gonvick Public Schools received $6,000 to bring in Copper Street Brass for an arts residency and community concert.
 
Gizhiigin Arts Incubator received $5,435 to produce "Seven Values Community Mural," in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Mahnomen.
 
Northern Light Opera Company received $6000 to produce the Lerner & Lowe musical My Fair Lady.
