Partnering with Craig-Houghton Elementary
Craig-Houghton is our neighbor, our community partner, and our friend located only several blocks away at 1001 4th St.
They have a very transient population and poor attendance rates. This year the school lost 3.5 paid staff positions.

The principal, Mrs. Cogle, every teacher, and staff member are dedicated to their students, but it's a tough job!! They serve 380 students in grades Pre-kindergarten through 5th,  and work daily towards empowering each student to take responsibility for their school performance. Every 9-weeks special honors assemblies are held to recognize the "NBA" students (Never Been Absent!),  good conduct, and special honors for academic achievements.

The suspension rate has dropped from 60% to 45%. The College & Career Readiness Performance Index increased last year (partially thanks to our tutoring program!) They are working SO hard to continue to strive for excellence and to shape their students to be productive citizens in society!!

Why am I telling you all this?

You hear us ask repeatedly for assistance for Craig-Houghton. I want you to know more about our neighbors right around the corner!

Love your neighbor as yourself! There are so many ways we can show our LOVE!
  1.  COATS & JACKETS!! Please donate or make a financial contribution.
  2.  Come read once a week or once a month. It will be 30 minutes rewarded with hugs and smiles!!
  3.  Tutor with our 3rd-5th graders every Wednesday at 1 PM for 1 hour.
  4.  Be a classroom volunteer in a lower grade. They just need hands on help for activities. Again, great hugs in return!
  5. Donate student incentives to use for small prizes. Do you have a connection to a business or restaurant that would be interested in being a community partner?
  6. Volunteer to be Teacher for One Hour!! To show teacher appreciation we want every teacher to get a one hour break on Thursday November 16th (in the morning & you pick the grade).

This is a high impact, high reward ministry.  We encourage you to join in.  Questions or ideas please contact Kathy Enicks.

Walk with the Spirits
Saturday and Sunday, October 28 & 29, Saint Paul's Churchyard

Historic Augusta's 11th annual historic cemetery tour returns to Saint Paul's Churchyard. This event aims to increase awareness of Augusta's past by connecting current residents and visitors with the people and places that still influence us today by their contributions to Augusta's cultural legacy. Tours begin every 20 minutes from 1:20 - 4:00 PM each day and last approximately 45 minutes.  For more information or to purchase a ticket, please contact Historic Augusta at (706) 724-0436 or visit www.historicaugusta.org.

This year, two of Saint Paul's parishioners will be participating as featured "spirits" in the tour. William "Chip" Lamb will portray the Reverend William Henry Clarke (1820-1877), who was a widely beloved and respected Rector of Saint Paul's Church that served through the Civil War until his untimely death at the beside of a parishioner. He is buried in the crypt beneath the altar. Catherine Robertson will also portray her ancestor, Sarah Hudson Barnes (d. 1794), who was the wife of George Barnes, an Irish immigrant and wine merchant that served as a "Chairman of the Vestry" at Saint Paul's. The church is built over their graves.
