PCCS Board Parent Election Update
Thank you to those who have voted. As a reminder, voting is open through Friday, October 27, 2017 at 3:30pm for the parent-elect board seat. We have two candidates: Brett Edmonds and Dan Fedor. Candidate information for Brett is HERE and for Dan is HERE

You should have received an email from Election Buddy last week with your ballot (please check your spam folder if you did not receive it, as sometimes the Election Buddy email goes to the spam folder). Per the election policy, 30% of eligible families must cast a vote for a candidate in order for the election to be certified. A selection of "None of the Above" does not constitute a vote towards the 30% threshold. Each family receives one vote. This is your opportunity to voice your choice for the future of governance at PCCS.
PBIS--Being Responsible in the Hallway
Being Responsible in the Hallway.  In our school community, the hallways are some of the first places people see when they enter our buildings. We want to send a message to visitors that we take pride in how our school looks. Also, in an emergency, halls need to be clear so people don't trip over shoes or other items. If we didn't have any expectations for how to walk in the hallway, it would be chaos! By staying in a straight line, we make sure everyone who needs to move through the hallway can do so. Although we can't control what others do, we can take personal responsibility for ourselves by showing expected hallway behavior, and we can give friendly reminders to help each other out.
Academic Excellence
Fall Fests and Parties and Report Cards - Oh MY!!   This must mean it is Parent Teacher Conference Time as well.   PCCS holds parent teacher conferences twice a year in November and March. Fall conferences, which will be held on November 20th & 21st, are teacher-led/student attended (with the exception of Kindergarten, which is parent attended). In the spring, we hold student-led conferences where students take the opportunity to show off their successes and create goals for the future.  All families are encouraged to attend a conference with their child's teacher. This is an opportunity to partner with the teachers to make sure your child is on track and set up for success. We look forward to seeing all of you at conferences and sharing your child's progress.

PSO Corner
Fall Fest- Join us on Sunday for this once-a-year celebration of the harvest season, and coming together as a school community! Rain or shine, we'll be hosting at the Byron Colby Barn, the Nelson Gym, and Market Square. From 12-4, we'll have the Bears game live streaming, hay rides, face painting, a magic show, an art show, and bounce houses.  Available for purchase (cash only, please), we are selling pumpkins to decorate, apple cider, 50/50 raffle tickets are being sold, and food from Momcorn and Pizzeria DeVille ! Prairie Wind Family Farm will be selling delicious local, organic produce as well. Grayslake FD and PD will bring fire trucks and police cars for the kids to explore, so come out and support our 1st responders! Bring the whole family, and see you on Sunday!

Pizza Day- Our first Pizza Friday was a lot of fun for the kids, and for the parents who didn't have to pack a lunch! Thanks a million to our dedicated volunteers who came out to serve our kids. It was a great team effort, and each and every one of you is so very appreciated. We were all blown away by how many people came out to volunteer- PCCS has the best group of parents, hands down!

Staff Breakfast- A big thank you to all who prepared food for our staff, and to those who set up and cleaned up after our staff breakfast! Just a reminder, if you brought a dish or bowl in, please be sure to pick it up as soon as possible.

PSO General Meeting- October 25th, at 8:15 in the Staff Room (the room above the Main Office, immediately after carpool), we are hosting our first PSO General Meeting. All are encouraged to attend! We are looking for parents who want to be involved, and for those who are interested in what events we have planned. There is a place for everyone in the PSO!

Annual Holiday Bazaar- Save your holiday gift-worthy donations! We begin collecting at carpool starting on November 16th. Each of our children will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for both immediate and extended family members for the holidays. It is a very special event, and your gift donations for all ages, your donations of gift bags, tape, and wrapping paper, ribbon, etc. are much appreciated. The collection occurs each morning until the sale on December 7th! More information coming soon!
