ClassE is where we grow entrepreneurs and nurture success. This is what we have been learning this week.

It was a cold and rainy day, but the Golf Outing was a great success thanks to all of your support! The students made a profit of more than $7,467 well above their $5,000 goal. This money will be used for their start-up seed money and also help pay for some field trips outside of Coles County to learn about entrepreneurship!

ClassE meets daily from 8 - 9:20 am, Lifespan Center (unless noted above), 11021 E. Cty. Rd. 800 N., Charleston (Loxa Road - northeast of SBLHS). Class is open and everyone is welcome.
Running the Golf Outing

The registration and hole signs were set-up on Sunday, so the students were ready to greet the golfers first thing on Monday morning.

The students sold tickets to the golfers to improve their beginning lie by having fellow students use their ath letic skills in tennis,  football, frisbee, golf, soccer and baseball. Box lunches were served. A big thank you goes to all of our birdie sponsors, Gilbert, Metzger & Madigan, Lambo's and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center and the 12 other hole sponsors.


Running a Post Mortem on the Event

It is always a good management practice to review what went well and what could be improved upon right after the event so improvements can be made in the future. 

Thank you cards were written to all of the sponsors and the students let them know the outcome of the event.
Learning More about the Grocery Retail Business

The class toured County Market in Charleston on Friday and saw in person many of the sales and placement strategies we discussed in class last week. Each department runs like its own small business and many of the managers shared trends and challenges they experience running their departments. 

Niemann Foods is growing steadily and provides an  employee 
stock o wnership plan (ESOP) that provides a company's workforce with an ownership interest in the company. 



Engaging in the Community

The  students attended the Mattoon Area Community Foundation Breakfast and Jake Wilson and Gage Gough were in the EIU Homecoming parade.
