Let’s Celebrate Our School!
Hilltop’s Annual Fund Week, October 27 - November 3, 2017

Shortly, we’ll be celebrating “Annual Fund Week” at Hilltop. You will be receiving a
mailing that will include a pledge sheet. If you are new to the school, or want a refresher
on what it’s all about, please read on…

“Hold on…Hilltop is asking my family for money? We already pay tuition. They want more?”

Hilltop Montessori School works hard to keep tuition as affordable as possible for as many families as possible. The tuition income that we receive from parents does not cover the cost of each student. As a matter of fact, there is on average about a $4,000 gap between tuition income per student and the actual cost of a Hilltop education. Part of that gap is made up by the state funding we receive through the programs we put forth great effort to be a part of. Part of it is covered with grants and foundation donors. And a critical piece is from families, alumni, alumni families, grandparents, alumni grandparents, businesses, and whoever else we can think of who help us close that gap by giving tax-deductible
contributions in accordance with their financial ability.

“Why limit the Annual Fund ask to only a week?”

Short & sweet…we do not want to prolong the request beyond the week. We approach the staff, faculty, board and current parent community first because this is the group that sets the tone for Annual Fund giving for the rest of our Hilltop community and beyond. Shouting from the rooftops that we have 100% support of our constituents sends a very strong message that we’re worthy of support! We then proceed through the year to contact grandparents, friends, and businesses. This year, not only did we get 100% participation from our Board of Trustees…the board doubled their total contribution amount from last year. Additionally, we have incredibly dedicated faculty and staff who have also participated at 100%! What an outstanding show of support for Hilltop!

Hilltop Helpers
A message from Julia Fedoruk, 8th grader in the Middle School:
I am once again collecting clothes for refugees, which local nonprofit  Carry Me Home  sends to camps and outreach programs in Greece.  We currently need adult winter clothing sizes small and medium, warm adult sleeping bags, and shoes/boots for all ages.   Needs change as we hear from our contacts in the field, so please check this space for any updates! All items should be clean and in good condition. Please leave them in the box in the lobby.

To help defray shipping costs (the only item in the budget of this 100% volunteer organization), Carry Me Home will offer a  delicious Greek Supper  benefit   at Centre Congregational Church on  Saturday   November 18, 5-7pm . We hope you will attend! All the information is on our  event page . We are also seeking donations of ingredients for the supper, and some volunteers to help us cook, serve, and clean up. Please sign up on the list by my collection box, or email me.

Thank you for all of your past support, and Kalí óreksi ! (bon appétit in Greek)
Secret Santa's Needed!
Looking for a GREAT act of kindness to do with your kids? Become a Secret Santa for a child (or children) in need! This amazing program collects letters to Santa from local kids in need and distributes them to any Secret Santa helpers who are willing and able to buy them a present. You can request the age, gender and number of children you'd like to gift to or just ask for any letter. Letters will likely be mailed or e-mailed around mid-November and gifts should be wrapped and dropped off (with letter attached) by December 8th at  629 Putney Rd , Brattleboro  (People’s United Bank Operations Center across from  Top of the Hill Grill ).
