1. Shuttle Service - From the Airport
 
A shuttle service is available for participants and is offered by Atchison Transportation Services located at the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. To book a ride or for more information about the shuttle service, please contact Elaine Brackett (864) 345-1264 or visit their website.

2. Shuttle Service - Between The Two Marriotts
 
Marriott Spartanburg will provide a free shuttle between the main Spartanburg Marriott Hotel and the Courtyard Marriott per the schedule below. The travel time is approximately 10 minutes. Each shuttle can hold 14 people max, so please sign-up for the morning shuttles to give the driver an idea of how many passengers to expect. Sign-up when you check-in.

Updated! Conference Book Club
 
Discussion of this year's conference anthology,  Expecting Goodness & Other Stories , will be led by Dr. Deno Trakas, contributing author and Hoy Professor of American Literature at Wofford College. The discuss will take place from 11:00am-12:00pm on Monday 10/23 in  the "Walnut Grove" meeting room of the hotel . We'll focus on a few stories, so feel free to come even if you haven't read the whole book!

Rain or shine, we'll have five delicious food trucks to choose from on Monday night! The rain location will be outside of the Heritage Ballroom with seating available inside. If you've already registered for the conference, spaces are still available for the HBCU Forum (Historical Black Colleges and Universities). This preconference workshop is from 1:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, October 22 only. Registration is $50. You can add it by logging into the Register Now link on the right side of the page >> HERE <<

This year's topic: "HBCU's Strategic Initiatives: Mapping the World" will focus on the importance of HBCU institutions remaining relevant and strategic within the context of internationalization.

Participants who wish to enjoy the unlimited breakfast buffet at the Spartanburg Marriott at the discounted rate of $10 per day, may ONLY ADD IT DURING hotel arrival / registration. Walk-up cost is $15 and the discount cannot be applied at the restaurant point of payment. A la carte items are available also.

Collection times for all the members that submitted an application form to provide items will be Monday, October 23rd, 9am - 1pm, booth 64.

Volunteering at the Conference
 
We Need You to Volunteer at the NAFSA Region VII Conference!
This conference couldn't happen without all the amazing volunteers. Volunteering is open to all conference attendees, and is a great opportunity to network, share best practices, help others, and learn a lot.

Sign up to volunteer HERE. 

Volunteers should report to the Volunteer Table 15 minutes prior to the session start time. Volunteer slots are typically 1.5 - 2 hours. Prior experience or knowledge is not required to sign up as a volunteer. All necessary information will be provided when you report to the Volunteer Table. Please feel free to sign up for more than one time slot and day.


Resume Reviews
  
Free Headshots: Participants in the Resume Review will also have the opportunity for a free headshot immediately following your resume review session. Headshots will take place following the Monday 9-10 am and Monday 1:30 - 2 pm sessions. Those with resume reviews other than these times may also attend for a headshot during these times. Your headshot will be emailed to you after the conference.  

Looking for a new position, a new direction or guidance in your International Education (IE) career?
Whether you are a new or seasoned professional in our field, we're offering a free opportunity to sign up for a resume review or to be a reviewer. An experienced NAFSA member will provide feedback on your resume, guidance and encouragement in your job hunt. This is a great chance to polish up your resume as well as to make contacts in the field.

NAFSA 's  International Enrollment Management (IEM) Knowledge Community (KC) is gathering data about trends impacting IEM professionals such as:

Findings will be shared with IEM KC members in late 2017 and at the 2018 Annual Conference in Philadelphia. Additionally, the IEM KC leadership will use your feedback to inform the development of future resources for IEM professionals. Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Academy Class #15. AIE is a year-long training program designed for those who are new to the international education field, as well as those who've recently had international education added to their responsibilities. Guided by a seasoned international education coach and working with a cohort of peers in small groups, the program is designed to meet specific learning needs. Consider applying for Academy Class #15, or encourage any interested peers or new professionals to apply. Admission is competitive.

Cost:  $1999 (a value of more than $3,500).

Registration Open: 2017 Case Competition

Graduate students and new professionals to the field of international education are encouraged to demonstrate their knowledge and experience by participating on a 2-person team to tackle a case study addressing challenges faced by IE professionals. Various experienced IE professionals from the Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship & International Education Leadership Knowledge Communities will serve as informal mentors. Teams will share a 10-minute presentation to three judges.
  
All participating teams receive a certificate of recognition. The winning team will be announced at the Region VII Business Awards Luncheon and receives:

North Carolina
Registration open for the Student Global Leadership Conference
 
Registration is now open for the NCAIE  Student Global Leadership Conference This year's theme  is Global Leadership: Exploring Diverse Voices.  The conference will take place at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh from November 10-11, 2017.
                                                                                                         
The NCAIE Student Global Leadership Conference brings together undergraduate and graduate students from colleges and universities across the state of North Carolina for a weekend of networking, team building, and informative sessions on a wide array of topics related to international initiatives, global education, cultural diversity, and student leadership.

Benefits of attending:
  • Gain knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors important for working with diverse or intercultural teams
  • Develop presentation experience
  • Increase global awareness
  • Network with other students in NC
  • Boost intercultural competency

Call for Proposals and Registration Open for International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning Symposium

Hosted by Auburn University, International Perspectives on University Teaching and Learning brings together a diverse community of teaching and learning professionals, international educators, policy makers, administrators and researchers dedicated to internationalizing teaching in higher education. The symposium is scheduled for May 30-June 1, 2018 at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando, Florida.  A wide range of relevant ideas will be addressed during the symposium.

Submit a proposal for pre-conference workshops, conference sessions or essays and register today.

The Georgia International Leadership Conference (GILC) will be April 13-15, 2018.  This annual student leadership conference brings together 200 international and study abroad students from across the state. The intense weekend is full of leadership development and intercultural simulations and fun!
