Thank you to those who joined us for this morning's merchant meeting at Gazelle Sports. For those who missed it, here's a recap of important items:
Holiday Events
- Small Business Saturday: Saturday, November 25, 2017. The BSD is partnering with Oakland County to offer cash prizes and other prizes from Birmingham merchants. To donate a Small Business Saturday prize (at least $50 value), please contact the BSD at 248-530-1200.
- Birmingham Winter Markt Event: Friday, 12/1 thru Sunday, 12/3. Birmingham Winter Markt and carriage ride sponsorships are still available. Contact Jaimi Brook for more information at 248-530-1254 or [email protected].
- Window Decorating Contest: Artsy Arctic theme; download the registration form and submit it by November 24. Birmingham Winter Markt visitors will be encouraged to walk through town and cast their vote. The top three merchants will receive a prize, such as a complimentary Birmingham Magazine ad or gift certificate.
- Donate a gift certificate for Santa Haus visitors! Examples include certificates for a free cup of coffee or a small toy. The BSD will use these incentives to encourage Santa Haus visitors to shop in town.

Old Woodward Reconstruction Project Timeline
- The City will be issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) in early November.
- The proposals from prospective contractors will be due in December.
- A recommendation for the winning bid is expected in January of 2018.
- The City anticipates construction will start in the spring and conclude in the summer.
- The next meeting for merchants is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, January 11, 2018. Time and location will be announced in the future.
