Natalie Coughlin Aquatics Center Announced

Carondelet today proudly announced the Natalie Coughlin Aquatics Center, named for our Cougar alumna from the Class of 2000, who is a three-time Olympian and generous humanitarian with a heart of gold.

Natalie, who has earned 12 Olympic medals in her career, will be featured prominently at the new athletics complex, with a larger-than-life image of her diving into the pool at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Her image and athletic accom plishments will also be displayed in Carondelet's Hall of Fame, to be unveiled in spring 2018.

"I applaud my alma mater for its commitment to creating greater equity for female athletes by investing in a second campus that will be home to seven teams and all 800 students,"  Natalie Coughlin  said.

Parent Survey Regarding Uniforms

Over the past few months, a committee of Carondelet faculty and staff has met to evaluate our dress code policies. The purpose of this committee has been to discuss any issues regarding the current dress code and its implementation, and to recommend any potential changes that could be made.

As part of the evaluation, a student survey was conducted, and a group of students met with the committee to express their concerns and recommendations for the dress code.

The final part of this process will be to get input from Carondelet parents and guardians. We will be sending out a survey in the next few weeks, and the committee will incorporate the results of this survey into its evaluation. The committee plans to present its findings and recommendations to the administration later this month.

Thank you in advance for your participation. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Joe Silveira.
Student Spotlight: Allison Munden '18

"Over the summer I spent a week at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism for a summer camp that challenges students to take their digital media skills to the next  level. Some of the classes included editorial leadership, photo and video storytelling, branding in action, and sports reporting.
There were very prestigious instructors including news broadcasters, owners of public relations firms, writers for the Virginian-Pilot and even Pulitzer Prize winner Gary Hairlson.

I took the Writing Essentials class that is designed to help high school students understand the elements of news, from gathering information to writing inverted pyramid and narrative stories to social media and even some photojournalism.

What made this experience all the more exciting for me was getting to to know other students with similar interests, experience what it is like to live on a college campus, and confirm my career interest."
