St. Paul's Church |
September 29, 2017 |
Jesus said, "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock." (Matthew 7:24-25)
When Hurricane Irma tore through the state of Florida on September 10
th
, many of us had some concern about our new building on Flamevine Lane. We know that Helmet House Construction poured tons of concrete in those walls, but even still, a massive category 4 has the potential to inflict real damage on just about any structure. Jesus' words from Matthew 7 came to mind "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house..."
But praise the Lord, the Flamevine Church came through Hurricane Irma with no damage! We know that the church is very structurally sound, but ultimately, we want to make certain that the church is built on the solid foundation of God's Word. We're all about hearing the words of Jesus, and putting them into practice.
With this in mind, last week Deacon Jon and I performed a formal ceremony, and celebrated the interment of Scripture verses and prayers under the altar in the chancel of the new church. These verses and prayers were written down on cards and letters by members of St. Paul's, and placed in a beautiful Plexiglas box crafted by Senior Warden Bob Webster. It's a reminder to all of us that the true foundation of the church, and our strength in the storms of life, is the solid rock of God's Word.
Thank you again for your partnership in the Gospel!
Gratefully in Christ,
Pr. Jon

PRAYER BOX CEREMONY
September 28th
The written scripture verses and prayers were interred in the floor in the area of the chancel beneath the place where the altar will be. The significance of this is that the foundation of the church is built on God's Word and the faithful prayers of the saints.
During the rite which Pastor Jon and Deacon Jon performed,
the following scriptures were read:
Matthew 7:24-27
Matthew 16:13-19
Matthew 24:32-35
The prayer:
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, you are the brightness of the Father's glory and the express image of his
person, the one foundation and the chief cornerstone: Bless what we have now done in the laying of these Scripture verses and prayers of the saints. Be the beginning, the increase, and the consummation of this work undertaken to the glory of your Name; who with the Father and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God,
for ever and ever. Amen
Praise the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord is laid!
Alelluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!"

IMPORTANT UPDATE
The consecration of the Flamevine Church has been postponed until early 2018.
This is due to delays as a result of Hurricane Irma.
Our plan is to begin worshiping on Flamevine Lane as soon as possible after we receive our Certificate of Occupancy. We hope to receive this
sometime in November.
Please stay posted for further details.

New Church Parking
Our goal is to be a blessing to our Village Beach neighbors. Legally we are free to park in the public parking areas, however, in order to minimize stress on the downtown Village Beach parking, we are encouraging St. Paul's folks, whenever possible, to park at the International Office Building. If you have special needs, we want you to park in the church parking lot. See below for details.
