There will be bounce houses, carnival games, photo shop, costume contest and so much more! All kids are encouraged to wear friendly, non-scary, modest costumes. Join us Friday, October 27 from 5:30-8:00 pm. We can't wait to see you!
Are You a Veteran?
Do you know someone who served our country either on the front lines, or on the home front? Our school is hosting the first annual Thank You Veterans breakfast on Tuesday, November 14 from 9 - 10:30 am. Veterans, spouses, and spouses of the fallen please join us for a hot breakfast prepared and served by our day school students! Friends and family may join us for $3 a meal. Program will begin at 9:30. Questions? Please call the office and ask for Molly Poppe, or email  [email protected].

Singing in Church
Our next opportunity to sing in church is on November 12 at the 8:00 Traditional service in the church.  We will be singing "Here We Stand" based on our theme verse, Ephesians 2:8-10.  Save the date on your calendars.  Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord!

Faith Families... "Here We Stand!"
At our first Faith Family meeting this year, we talked about our school theme of "Here we stand: Word, Faith, Grace."   For the younger kids, the abstract concept of "standing for" or "standing on" an idea or concept can be a little hard to understand.  Generally, figures of speech that aren't used in today's culture don't make much sense.  After some explanation, our Faith Family kids were asked, "What does Shepherd School 'stand for'?"  (Pardon the grammar, please.)

Here are their answers:  Shepherd stands for Jesus, faith, grace, the Bible, living our faith in Christ, reading the Bible, athletics, learning, compassion, accepting students of different faiths, respect, integrity and responsibility.

Wow!  What a challenge to us as a school and to us as adults.

Street Smart at SouthGlenn
It's easy to help our school earn $250 to $2500. Just shop and log receipts from any of The Streets at SouthGlenn stores and restaurants between August 15, 2017 and April 30, 2018. Our school earns five points per dollar spent, with many additional bonus points opportunities. Receipts can be logged at the Retail/Residential Management Office or dropped in the collection box in the Concierge Lobby if you do not need them returned. Remember to tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to log their receipts. Anyone can support your school in the Street Smarts program. Questions? Jack's Corner
In lieu of my traditional question/answer format, and as our church and school counselor, I want to offer some thoughts (not an exhaustive discourse) regarding the Las Vegas shooting.  Although I address primarily those of the Christian faith in this article, my prayer is that everyone might glean something that helps them understand and act.

I don't want to minimize in any way the pain and the evil that was done.  I was...
