Your tax dollars at work: A weekly update on bond/override/construction
activity at SUSD schools. Check out what we're up to this week.
Scottsdale Unified School District | Bond Update 10/20/17

Thank you for signing up for weekly updates on bond & override projects within SUSD. We are committed to transparency through this process, and we welcome your feedback. Like you, we can't wait to see our new schools go up and our existing schools improve.
WEEKLY PROGRESS

On Monday, October 16,  a third community forum was held at Hopi to discuss the rebuild process and current design plan for the new school buildings. A panel of representatives, including the Superintendent, the Governing Board President, the Principal, an architect, a rebuild committee member and a construction rep answered questions and listened to community input for more than two hours. Following that meeting, the Superintendent put Hopi construction on pause, pending further discussion with teachers, parents, rebuild committee members and the Governing Board. The board members will take all stakeholder input into account and decide the best path forward for Hopi.

On Tuesday, October 17, the Governing Board reviewed the annual report on bond and capital override expenditures for fiscal year 2017. You can view those slides here or on bond.susd.org, as well as the Governing Board page of susd.org.
RUMOR OF THE WEEK ( or: Myth Busting)

This week, we want to dispel a rumor that Hohokam designs are moving ahead without community input. Work on Hohokam has not yet begun, as it is scheduled for a year later than the new Hopi and Pima campuses currently in progress. The Hohokam committee has been formed and will soon begin meeting to discuss design options. The proposed site plan for Hohokam available on our website is only a preliminary first draft that has not yet reviewed by the committee.
