UPCOMING EVENTS
MAKING AN IMPACT...

Can you imagine being in 5th grade and living in a household where not receiving a Nutrition On Weekends (NOW) food pack makes you worried about what you will eat that weekend?

This year one of our schools has increased their enrollment from 24 last school year to over 60 this year. Unfortunately, 60 is close to the capacity that our volunteer drivers can deliver to a school. So in order to assure there would be room to serve other children in need at this school, we combed through the enrollment forms to see if any of the kids at this elementary school had siblings in the Middle School. There were 8 of them, so we moved the delivery of their food packs to the Middle School.
On Monday we got an email from the Guidance Counselor asking to move one of the food packs back to the elementary school. On Friday, when the student didn't get their food pack they were very upset and spent Friday afternoon worrying that his sibling would eat his pack leaving him hungry for the weekend.

United Way's Nutrition On Weekends provides supplemental food packs to area children facing food insecurities in their home. Last year, 451 children were provided weekly food packs through the program. Together we are making a difference.
