October  2017

The Car Carriers Are Here!  Even if we are not one to actively watching the calendar, we can always tell when "Season" is here when the car carriers come to town!  And right behind them are the snowbirds.

I just love when my Northern friends come back. It means that our season begins with all of the great activities that it brings: Here are a few:
  • The 10th Annual Chalk Festival-and Siesta Key Crystal Class Master Sand Sculpting Competition are both the weekend of Nov 10-13.
  • The Sarasota Ballet will feature The Secret Garden  Oct. 27 - 29
  • Treasures - The Sarasota Orchestra bring you DVORAK and FAURE - two giants of chamber music on October 22nd
  • Van Wezel will feature the Moscow Ballet on Dec 29th
  • Asolo Repertory Theatre - Evita Nov 18-Dec 30
There are so many wonderful activities to keep track of (and I don't want you to miss out on anything) so I am providing a link to the wonderful Arts Alliance and Cultural of Sarasota County calendar.

One of my beautiful listings was featured on Suncoast View's Best Luxury Waterfront Condos on the Market segment last week.  Click here to see the segment.

Hurricane Irma Stalls Sales in Sarasota and Manatee

While Irma ultimately was not the devastating storm that was predicted here on the west coast of Florida, there were most definitely some effects felt in our real estate market.  Closings, inspections and new listings were all down from last year at this time.  And as reported by the REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee "September's decline in sales isn't an effect of the current housing supply and demand, but is directly related to the business and school closures around the storm."  They report that there were 20% fewer business days in September to complete a sale.

"We typically start to see more listings in September as buyers prepare for season," said Vallone. "But, when the storm started its path toward Florida, sellers weren't preparing to list their house, they were preparing to keep it safe."

That said, you can read the entire report by clicking below, but with an anomaly like Irma, the reported information is not an actual reflection of our current market. Stay tuned for my October report.
