Anadarko Helps Victims Of Hurricane Harvey
The City of Anadarko opened their hearts to Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas. Last month, the City of Anadarko started collecting water, non-perishable foods, blankets, and clothing at one of Anadarko's fire stations. Kenneth Corn, City Manager of Anadarko said "I initially thought we would just need  a U-Haul truck to get these items down South, but we ended up needing a 53 foot semi-trailer. We received over 1,000 cases of water, over 500 blankets, boxes of canned goods, and even diapers and toothpaste. I am very pleased with the response from our community. The turnout was overwhelming." Over $3,000 in cash was donated to the hurricane victims as well. The City of Anadarko donated the goods to a small community outside of Houston in an effort to help those in need. OML and the victims of the hurricanes thank Anadarko and all others that have donated for their generosity in this time of need .  News 9 Story
OML's McClure Presents Municipal Concepts At OU
This past week OML Research Director Daniel McClure gave a municipal concepts presentation to public administration students at the University of Oklahoma. The presentation was the first step in a new collaborative partnership between the League and the University designed to make the research process more streamlined, while also providing an opportunity to introduce municipal government to university students. The students will be working with the League's Research Department on the 2017/2018 Salary and Benefits Report. Students will assist with data collection, entry and will also reach out to member municipalities to collect any missing information for the report. We are pleased to be working with the University, and believe the partnership will be a mutually beneficial process with hopes of encouraging students to seek careers in municipal government .
