The First Annual Maine Gleaning Week

From October 7th-16th, a collaborative of farm surplus rescue efforts will gather crops from Maine's fields and will engage communities with our local food systems. Sponsored by the Maine Gleaning Network, the week will offer various surplus food collection activities (plus cider-pressing parties!) across the state, social and educational opportunities, and a screening of "WASTED! The story of Food Waste" at the Portland Public Library on World Food Day, October 16th. Find out more here.


Cap off fair season in Fryeburg this week

Agricultural fairs are a mainstay of summer and fall in Maine, and the Fryeburg fair helps the season go out with a bang. From October 1 - October 8, enjoy traditional Fair highlights including horse and ox pulling, draft horse tandem hitches up to eight, calf and pig scrambles, cooking contests, flower shows, exhibition halls of crafts, handiwork, photos, art, forest and wood products, delicious local food and more!
