End of Year Announcement!
Get ready for some exciting improvements!

Over the past five years we've asked First Breath providers and participants for feedback on our program and their needs around the issue of tobacco use and pregnancy. In that time, we've found both providers and participants want First Breath to include:
  • Access to more intensive support and counseling
  • Services to be available postpartum
  • Family/partner involvement

We're excited to announce that these changes are coming soon! Starting in 2018, First Breath will be adopting a new referral model that will be easier to implement, with even more services and resources available to the women enrolled.

Next Steps for First Breath:
  • New First Breath provider training (available 12/01/17)
  • New Model Launch 01/01/2018

My Baby & Me Spotlight
Did you know My Baby & Me support is available via text?

My Baby & Me helps women achieve alcohol-free pregnancies through screenings, education, phone counseling and text message support.

All My Baby & Me providers are encouraged to:
  • screen all women for prenatal alcohol use
  • educate on the risks of prenatal alcohol exposure, and
  • refer women interested in more support to the WWHF Pregnancy Educator
Please remember that women uninterested in a referral can still receive free, nonjudgmental, supportive messages to stay alcohol-free.

Stress Reduction and Self- Reflection

Now that the weather has finally returned to seasonal temperatures, it feels like fall! The leaves are starting to turn shades of yellow, orange, and red, the air is cool and crisp, and everything tastes like pumpkin spice!

Senses affect so much of our daily lives, but how ofte n do we actually stop and tune into them? Pausing and focusing on the present moment is calle d mindfulness, and research shows it can have some  really great health benefits like lowering your risk for cancer, stroke, pain, anxiety, depression, and sleep problems.

Let's take a few minutes this month to practice mindfulness - incorporating both journaling and our senses!
