Introducing Cumberland's First Mayor & Deputy Mayor

Cumberland Council has its first ever Mayor and Deputy Mayor. At an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 27 September, Councillor Greg Cummings was elected Mayor and Councillor Eddy Sarkis was elected Deputy Mayor. Their election opens a new chapter for the Cumberland area.

The next Council Meeting is on Wednesday 4 October. This is only the second time that Cumberland residents have been able to live stream proceedings. Council is determined to make it easier for residents to participate in Local Government.

On behalf of all Council staff, I look forward to working in partnership with the newly elected representatives. Together we will continue to   fulfill your vision for Cumberland as a place where anyone can feel welcome, belong and succeed.

The next Council Meeting is on tomorrow night. Residents can now live stream proceedings by visiting the Council Meetings page on the Cumberland website. The Council Meeting is also recorded so you can stay up to date with Council decisions at a time convenient to you.

The advantage of live streaming is that it allows the community to view proceedings without the need to physically attend Council meetings. This will make it even easier for residents to follow Council debates and decisions and is part of our commitment to open and transparent leadership.
