As Thanksgiving is approaching, take a look below for our local fish recommendations this week and also take advantage of Nauti Pilgrim Oysters.  From Plymouth Rock, MA, Nauti Pilgrim Oysters have a flavorful brine and full, plump meat.  They're excellent for Thanksgiving Eve bar-goers, buck a shucks, specials or even a premium fried Oyster. One Fish, Bluefish: Good Availability
The sweet and nutty American and imported Snapper is looking good right now for availability. It's a fish with great versatility in the kitchen, so it's sure to be a hit on your menu no matter how you choose to prepare it. Bluefish is looking nice too, with good catch in Newport, Rhode Island. This is a fish that is mean by nature, but delicious all the same. Black Bass and Porgies are coming in wonderful as well. A beautiful fish, Porgies have a mild, sweet flavor and a large flake. Striped Bass is in good supply and that's something to be excited about. It's from New York and the largest Striped Bass on record is a 125-pound female caught off North Carolina in 1891! Mahi is in good supply but the market changes often. Mahi are known for feeding on flying fish, crabs, squid, mackerel, and other forage fish. Scallop Market
As we approach the end of the year and cold weather, Scallop availability is decreased.  Many fishermen off the coasts of New Jersey and Massachusetts have used up their allotted quota.  In addition, colder weather and windy conditions affect how often and long they can make it out to sea.  This quota is monitored by National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to keep stocks healthy.  Did you know many Atlantic Sea Scallop fisheries are Marine Stewardship Council certified?  This is partly to credit for this summer's healthy Scallop market. Peak season has concluded, however, Samuels Scallop purchasers are committed to bringing in the best quality Scallops the Atlantic has to offer.  If you're craving Scallops, keep in mind, it's Peconic Bay and Nantucket Bay Scallops season.  These two Bay Scallops are like candy of the sea. Catch has been good so far and we're providing chefs live Peconic Bay Scallops in the shell for a beautiful presentation and shucked Nantucket Bay Scallops for a gourmet, ready to eat dish.
