Tonight the #4 Garces Rams take on the #1 Tulare Union Tribe at Tulare Union HS.  Tulare has the leading touchdown maker in the country so our defense has its work cut out for them.  But we have the best running back in the history of Garces and when Isaiah Martin has the ball - get out of his way or be prepared to be run over!  Come out and support the Rams as this is the biggest game they have played this season and we need to pack the stands.  Let's be the 12th Ram!  Let's be Loud!  Let's be Proud!  Let's be Herd!  Good luck Rams!
State Playoffs Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 18th, we have TWO teams competing at the State level.  That is amazing for a little school like us.  We are so proud of them and all they have accomplished. They are a shining example of what it means to be a Garces Ram.

The #4 Boys Water Polo Team plays in the Nor Cal D-2 Semi-Final against #1 seed St. Francis HS at Rio American HS at 10:20 AM.  Rio American HS is located at 4540 American River Dr. in Sacramento. If the boys win, they will play in the afternoon for the Nor Cal State Title.  Good luck Rams!

The #11 Lady Rams Volleyball Team plays in the So Cal D-1 Quarter-Final against #3 San Juan Hills HS at 6:00 PM at San Juan Hills HS located at 29211 Stallion Ridge in San Juan Capistrano. If the girls win, they will play in the Semi-Finals on Tuesday.  Good Luck Lady Rams!

We are so proud of them and look forward to them doing great things in college.
Fr. Nathan's Scholarship Offer

On Wednesday, the seniors participated on an interactive call with Fr. Nathan Cromly via the internet in the chapel to hear about The Ecclesia Institute.  Fr. Nathan's calling is to work with young people through his Eagle Eye Ministry.  His mission is to form, unite, and inspire young Catholics for the new evangelization by deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ, through prayer, study, culture, and community.  He introduced the seniors to a month long program through The Ecclesia Institute.  The program is designed to give the participants an experience of the inner life of the Church.  It also offers the students who are headed off to college a deeper connection to the church so they can stay true to
their faith, stay away from temptation and to make positive choices while away from home.

Father Nathan has offered a partial scholarship to one Garces student.  All of the seniors who are interested in attending are to let Ms. Myka Peck know of their interest.  One of them will have half of their fee covered by Fr. Nathan.

This summer's program is June 14th - July 14th and will take place in North Dakota.  The first four days will be backpacking.  Then the students will be immersed in rich liturgy, intense silent Adoration, invigorating and challenging classes, and fruitful, fun experiences of Community.  Halfway through there will be retreat.

At the end of the course, the students will be credited with six college units - three for Theology and three for Philosophy.  The units are fully transferable.

Participants are given a true taste of the inner life of the Catholic Church - a life of love, of mercy, of joy, and of intense gift. Nothing evangelizes the world more than the life of the Church; nothing transmits the truth of Christ more faithfully than the life of the Church; nothing bears witness more to the presence of God than the life of the Church. And so, this is what the Ecclesia Institute seeks to give - an authentic experience of Catholic community, rooted in the monastic life, and flowing into an intelligent dynamic encounter with the modern world.

If one month is too long, through Eagle Eye Ministries, he also offers one week and weekend retreats for young people.

If you have any questions, or would like further information, please contact Ms. Peck.

Miss California Jr. Teen Elle Pasternik Making a Difference

First things first.  Congratulations to Garces freshmen Elle Pasternik who is USA National Miss California Jr. Teen!  She kept that a well guarded secret that only recently came to light because of a community service project she is doing as part of her reign.

Elle competed in the Miss California Jr. Teen pageant last March.  The three categories the contestants were judged on were interview, evening wear, and runway.

As part of her work as Miss California Jr. Teen, Elle is collecting blankets for the Parkview Julian Convalescent Hospital.  Her goal is to collect a minimum of 100 blankets to distribute to the elderly as Christmas gifts.  If you would like to help Elle provide blankets to the elderly, you can make a donation by going into House of Moseley and donating $20.00 or by dropping off a new blanket.

Fun in Geometry!

Ms. Alyssa Church decided to teach "transversals" in a more interactive way to help drive home the concept to her Geometry students.  A transversal is a line that intersects two other lines giving them specific angle pairs.  She decided a fun and creative way to teach the concept was to have her students create maps with very specific items to help illustrate the concept and to help the students understand more about angles. The maps were graded based on creativity, neatness and accuracy.

Mr. Gino Lacava
Technology Coordinator

Happy Thanksgiving Garces Families.  Huge happenings are planned for the Garces campus during the Thanksgiving break, unfortunately you won't be able to see them.  The tech infrastructure of our campus is getting a much-needed overhaul.  Our network server, which is older than most of your kids on campus, is in its final days.  After the turkey break, things like your ability to use NetClassroom, and your students' ability to use the WiFi on campus will be dramatically improved.  For those interested, our campus runs on a system known as Education Edge, which is an umbrella for quite a few different programs, such as NetClassroom, Naviance and all teacher grade books.  Our Education Edge is very outdated and we will need to shut our servers down in order to update it, and move it to a new server.  Unfortunately, you will not be able to check grades for a few days while we are transitioning, but when your bellies are full of holiday cheer the grade books will be back up again.  The planned outage is from Monday, November 20th thru Wednesday, November 22nd.

Thank you all for your patience and have a wonderful holiday.
