Friends of the Library Book Sale - The Friends of the Library will hold a book sale Friday, November 17 - Sunday, November 19 at the Westland Public Library, located at 6123 Central City Parkway.  They have many new items and an abundance of hardcover fiction, large paperbacks, large print, biographies and children's books.  The sale will take play from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. 

Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location:

Disability Concerns
  • The Disability Concerns Committee will meet on Monday, November 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.

City  Council
  • The Westland City Council meeting will take place on Monday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Rd.
Housing Commission
  • The meeting of the Housing Commission will take place on Tuesday, November 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, located at 32150 Dorsey.
City Offices Closed in Observance of Thanksgiving Holiday - All city offices will be  closed on  Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  This includes the 18th District Court and the Westland Public Library.  Trash pick up will also be delayed by one day beginning Thursday through the rest of the week.  

Small Business Saturday -  For the fourth year, the City of Westland is celebrating Small Business Saturday and this year, is encouraging everyone to get involved.  Small Business Saturday, which started in 2010, falls on the  Saturday after Thanksgiving and is the counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  This year, it takes place on Saturday, November 25.  The holiday encourages shoppers to patronize local, small businesses.
