We know our teachers are great teachers, but here are some things you don't know.
This week featuring Mr. Gibson
(Math teacher 6-8th Grades)

1.)    Would you ever bungee jump or skydive?
I would love to. I have always loved riding on roller coasters, especially the old wobbly wooden ones. I think that bungee jumping or sky diving would be a real rush, if my heart did not stop during the process. Besides, I ride a motorcycle and that is a REAL RUSH!

2.)    If you were not a math teacher, what would you be and why?
I would love to be a pilot. As a child, I built and flew gas powered model airplanes. I originally wanted to volunteer for the Military and be a fighter pilot (who wouldn't) but in High School my vision changed and that no longer was a possibility.. I went to college to initially study Aerospace Engineering, but realize that I was more interested in the mechanics of things so I became a Mechanical Engineer instead.

3.)    Favorite day of the week?
Sunday  is my favorite day. It is the day I used to remember from my childhood as being a day where people relaxed and spent time together. Today, however, it quite often seems that Sunday  has just become another weekday, but I still like it best.

4.)    What is the furthest you have been from home?
The furthest I have traveled from home is Singapore. It was a wonderful place to visit, even if it was a business trip. The days and nights are warm as it is very near the equator, and are 12 hours each. One downside though is that it is a VERY expensive place to live.

Dear Parents,

Thanksgiving: the Attitude of Gratitude that makes all of life a Beatitude!

The virtue of gratitude shapes our entire outlook on life. It is the channel through which we become aware of the sacred, and the many blessings of our lives. To learn the grammar of gratitude, practice saying "thank you" for happy and challenging experiences, for people, animals, things, art, memories, dreams.

Gratitude allows us to appreciate and accept our lives. Gratitude allows us to accept our life as a gift. Gratitude is a good attitude. I want to thank you for a successful week of Parent/Teacher conferences. For the students and their families attending the Radio City Christmas Sepectacular, we wish you a safe and spirited trip!

Those families staying at home might want to come and cheer our St. A's "Let Me Run" boys team at 11:30 am for the 5k Turkey Trot starting and finishing at Waveny Park in New Canaan. There will be post-race refreshments. Awards will go to the top male and female runners and age group winners. Race day registration opens at 10:30 a.m. Pre-race check-in is at New Balance in New Canaan beginning today and Saturday, November 18th.

As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, I want to wish you and your families a blessed Thanksgiving and please take good quality time with friends loved ones!

God Bless You!

Veteran's Assembly
The students of St. Aloysius School assembled to honor the Veterans who have sons, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren attending the school. This Veteran's Day Assembly included the students serenading the veterans with America the Beautiful, God Bless America, and Amazing Grace.  Eighth graders launched the assembly by processing into the auditorium with the flag held high while other students prepared phrases and symbols for the "White Table".  The White Table which contains various symbols that represent the soldiers answering their call of duty, those waiting for them to return, and bloodshed if they don't make it. The chair is empty and tilted.  They are not here and will remain so until they return or accounted for.
The Veterans than stood up to share their individual experiences with the students. These Veterans represented World War II, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, The United States Army. Their stories were touching and heart-warming! A final thought to all Veterans " You are not forgotten so long as there is one left in whom your memory remains"!
Each and every student, staff and faculty member shook the hands of the veterans. During refreshments, the Student Leadership and Mentors (SLAM) offered up a basket of cards that showed the true meaning and spirit of the day!

God Bless our Veterans - Shown left to Right:
