Soup Added to the Menu
and Pick-up Window Installed at 5 Points Coffee & Tea
 Last month, 5 Points Coffee & Tea opened at the intersection of 3600 West Park Road and West 159th Street. Since then, owner Conor Boylen who hails from County Kildare in Ireland, has added a convenient pick-up window. Now you may pull in curbside and grab a beverage or baked good to go. When doing so, please don't block any of the neighbors' driveways.
Of course, all are welcome inside this cozy establishment. And, starting today, soup is on the menu served daily from 11 a.m. Hours are:
Weekdays: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Sunday: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This Sunday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. get into the Halloween spirit by joining in pumpkin painting, conducted by barista Mimi. Supplies are $5 for children under the age of 10 and $10 for ages 10 and older. Register in advance on or before Friday, September 29. RSVP on the Facebook event here or by calling the shop at 216-452-6637. Speaking of pumpkins, new on the menu is pumpkin spice lattes for fall with apple cider drinks coming. T-shirts, hoodies, and mugs are now available, too. Check the schedule for live music from Irishman Andrew McManus, too.
West Park Kiwanis Club "Tailgate" Clambake Set for Sunday, October 8
All are invited to savor the fare at the 4th Annual West Park  Kiwanis Club clambake fundraiser. Chef Steve Nikolakis will work his magic at The Cretan Center, 3853 West 168th Street. The fun begins at 1 p.m. with the Browns game shown on a big screen.
Dinner is $25 per person and will be served at half time. It includes:
- 1 dozen clams
- 1/2 chicken
- sweet potato
- corn on the cob
- clam chowder
To reserve your dinner, e-mail club president Nell Byrd at [email protected]. Payment by check must arrive before Thursday, October 5. Details will be provided when you make your reservation via email. All proceeds go to local and national charities supported by the club.
Fun Halloween Activities Abound
Start putting together your Halloween costume now for fun activities taking place at nearby locations before the actual Halloween night of October 31. A good place to begin is at

When your costume is together, here are some neighborhood venues for showing it off:
On Saturday afternoon, October 28, the
West Park Family YMCA invites families with children to celebrate safely inside the
 gymnasium at 15501 Lorain Avenue, from noon to 2 p.m. The fun includes a haunted walk, cookie decorating, face painting, a photo booth, and family games. No pre-registration is needed. Come dressed in a fun or scary Halloween costume. See the event flyer with details,

Earlier that day, join the 4th Annual Hermes Dead Sprint through Kamm's Corners! This year's event includes a chip-timed 5K race through the neighborhood and a "Little Monster Candy Dash (not timed) for kids ages 8 and younger ($10 each). The 5K is $30 each, but $35 on race day, starting at 7:30 a.m. for the 8:30 a.m. race. Top finishers in the 5K race will receive awards. The event begins and ends at

 Also that day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Halloween Comic Fest returns to Carol & John's Comic Book Shop inside Kamms Plaza at 17462 Lorain Avenue. Kids, families, and cosplayers get to enjoy free comics, candy, and professional photography services. Anyone in costume will be invited to take age-appropriate comic books. Later that evening,
West Park Station and
Backstage Bar will be teaming up again for their Annual Fright Night party, featuring their popular annual costume contest with $1,200 in cash and prizes. Judging for the contest starts around 9:30 p.m. The winners will be announced at midnight.
Neighborhood Trick-or-Treating takes place in Cleveland on Tuesday, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. Stay safe!
Crafters and Home-based Business Owners Sought for Fundraiser
Plan to participate in the
West Park Community Elementary School
 Craft and Vendor Show fundraiser taking place on Saturday, November 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school at 16210 Lorain Avenue. The following direct sales are already scheduled: Avon, Jamberry, LuLaRoe, Origami Owl, Scentsy, Stella and Dot, Tastefully Simple, Thirty-one, and Tupperware.
