Counseling Corner October 2, 2017

Dear Saints,

The first progress reporting period has come and gone, and the weeks are seeming to go by a bit faster. Many of my Seniors ask if I dislike this time of year because of all the "college stuff," but I have to say that this is my favorite time of year! I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for the Class of 2018!

In HIS Love,
Mrs. Yakinian

Grades will be available to view in Parent and Student Aeries Portals starting, Tuesday, October 3. These grades should be used as a benchmark for focusing on areas of strengths and improvement. Learning Success Program
Writing papers and reports is a common challenge for many students with learning disabilities. Many LSP students find that they have excellent ideas when they are talking to their teachers, parents, or friends, but those thoughts are lost once they have to write the in-class essay or type a rough draft. Voice to text is an excellent option for any student that struggles with writing papers or reports the traditional way. Voice to text will not only save time with writing, it will take away the anxiety of completing a task that is very difficult. All students process information differently, however the chances that they speak faster than they type are great. Google offers a voice typing option that is excellent for students struggling with writing. If you would like to learn more about Google's voice typing capabilities and the advantages of using this tool, please read this informative blog: 7 Reasons You Need to Try Voice Typing in Google Docs .
Tip of The Week
Everyone is individual, and so is the way you learn ! There are three main types of learning styles: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Knowing what type of learner you are is going to help you be a better student and have better study habits. When you are able to determine the type of learning style that is best for you, you will find better results when you are studying, and it will result in higher test scores! I highly encourage you to do some research to determine the type of learner you are, so that you can personalize your studying.
