LUM Volunteer Opportunities - Fall/Winter
The LUM Immigration Clinic is presenting the 2nd annual  Port of Hope Fundraiser on Thursday, November 9 at the Lafayette Brewing Company .

Volunteer opportunities for Port of Hope are as follows:

  • Set Up - Wednesday, November 8, 5-7 p.m.
  • Staff the Event - Thursday, November 9, 5-8 p.m.
  • Clean Up - Thursday, November 9, 8-9 p.m.

Become a volunteer at the LUM Port of Hope event and help create a fun and educational experience -- all in support of the programs & services offered by the LUM Immigration Clinic. 
LUM Jubilee Christmas needs lots and lots of volunteer "elves" to bring Christmas to local families and children in need.

Volunteer opportunities for Jubilee Christmas are as follows:

  • Staff our "Donation Center" from November 27 to December 5
  • Host a Family on Saturday, December 9
  • Sort Toys from December 5-7
  • Prepare a Mailing to our registered families

The LUM Community Thanksgiving Celebration is a true community event, where everyone is welcome, and LUM relies on dozens of volunteers like you. The event happens on Thanksgiving Day (11/23) from Noon – 2:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, Lafayette

There are many opportunities for YOU to serve your community neighbors from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., including...
  • Cooking, serving
  • Performing
  • Hosting, greeting
  • Setting up, cleaning up

Volunteer and make a difference in your community this Thanksgiving holiday.
Be a part of the annual LUM Turkey Trot 5K Run on Thanksgiving morning. 

 Volunteers are needed for all aspects of the event on Thursday, November 23 from 6 to 9:30 a.m.

The Turkey Trot 5K is open to runners of all ages and abilities and welcomes runners, walkers, dogs, strollers, wagons, turkey hats and more. The Turkey Trot 5K convenes at McAllister Park (former Lafayette Golf Course). The course is paved and allows participants to run a scenic route on a crisp November morning. 

All Turkey Trot 5K proceeds directly support the programs and services offered by Lafayette Urban Ministry. 
Youth Programs - LUM After School Program
The LUM  After School Program needs volunteers from 2 to 6 p.m., every weekday.

Volunteers are needed to tutor, read to students, give spelling tests and supervise the children. Volunteer and make a difference in the lives of our students.

Emergency Shelter & Winter Warming Station
Overnight Volunteers & Meals Needed
The LUM  Emergency Shelter needs Overnight Shelter Volunteers 365 nights a year from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. or 8 p.m. to midnight. Duties include checking in guests, serving dinner, distributing toiletries and maintaining a welcoming, safe & clean environment. 

The LUM Winter Warming Station will open in mid-November and will also need volunteers each night. For more information on homeless services volunteer opportunities at LUM, click   HERE.
