The Jungle Book Read-A-Thon

Kids can help raise money for the Glen Ellyn Public Library by reading! Set a fundraising goal, collect sponsors, and then track reading time in 20-minute increments. Earn a limited edition Jungle Book Ball patch when you read 8 hours. For kids of all ages. Sign up for the Read-A-Thon today!

All donations received will support Phase III of the Glen Ellyn Public Library Master Renovation Plan, which includes remodeling the Circulation area and creating a café and a drive-up window. More details at gepl.org/redesign.

Glenbard Parent Series Book Discussion

Join a "living-room-style" discussion in The Lounge about Ungifted: Intelligence Redefined: The Truth About Talent, Practice, Creativity, and the Many Paths to Greatness by Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman. Copies of the book title are available near the High School Room. Reserve your spot for the discussion.

Do-It-Yourself Halloween Makeup
Saturday, October 7 | 1-3 pm
Learn to apply Halloween makeup - gory or glamorous - with professional makeup artist Allison Halver. Allison will demonstrate how to make wounds and prosthetic applications and offer tips on applying Halloween makeup. Allergy alert: participants will be working with latex. For grades 6-8. Reserve your spot.

The Jungle Book Ball
Saturday, November 4 | 7-10 pm
Evoking Rudyard Kipling's beloved tale of Mowgli and his jungle adventures, this formal-attire ball will feature local fare, an open bar, live and silent auctions, and so much more! General tickets are $150 per person and VIP Prologue tickets, which grant access to a VIP hour beginning at 6 pm, are $300 per person. A limited number of tickets still available.

DEADLINE EXTENSION FOR 3D DESIGN COMPETITION

The deadline for submissions to the library's 3D Design Competition is extended until October 27. Put your maker skills to use and create and submit an original 3D ornament celebrating the library's 110th anniversary. The winning design will be produced and sold as a keepsake at the library during the Holiday Walk on November 24. All sales will benefit the Glen Ellyn Library Foundation. Submissions must be in .stl format and emailed to [email protected] by October 27. Limit one entry per person. Designs must be printable, original creations.
