1 1 . 1 7 . 1 7
Good morning!

What a great weekend this is going to be! Personally, I couldn't be more excited for Thanksgiving. My son Tanner and his girlfriend Gabriella will be arriving at our home on Saturday and they will be here for a full week!

As a church, we have a team headed to El Salvador this week to assist with some construction work on MTES's new facility. They leave early Saturday morning. Please be in prayer for them as they travel and serve.

This Sunday we will be celebrating with a dozen people that will be taking the step of baptism during our two morning services!  I can't think of a better way to kick of Thanksgiving week than that!  God is doing some pretty cool things in our lives and through our lives.  We certainly have a lot to be grateful for!

Also this Sunday, we will be kicking off a brief series that will sandwich Thanksgiving. We are calling this two part series " defined.

You know, words often change meaning over time. Sometimes words change meaning right under our noses. Simple words like unique, nice and awful no longer mean what they originally meant.  But there are some words that have much more importance, words that need to retain their original meaning. Words that have significant life implications. In this series we are going to look at the definitions of two very important words.

I'm excited to tackle the first word on Sunday. It might be a word that some of you have misunderstood for a while. My hope is that we can get at the heart of the definition, because this word symbolizes the most important truth the world has ever received.

Discovery's HUGE Giving Goal!
All through December

As a church family Discovery has always been committed to being outwardly focused.  At the end of the year we like to look for ways we can make a HUGE impact for the Kingdom of God.  This year we want to focus our end of year giving on two priorities: International Missions and Local Church planting.  Our goal this year is to bring in $100,000 in offering during the month of December to help further our work in El Salvador and to assist in launching One Church in the Chartiers Valley in March.  This year Discovery will contribute more than $200,000 to international missions and church planting!  Will you join us in meeting our HUGE giving goal?
Discovery's Claymation Christmas Series
All through December

The Rankin Bass Claymation Specials from the 1960's through 80's are some of the most kitschy and confusing parts of the American Christmas tradition.  Many of these stop motion animations have very odd storylines and very little redeeming value.  But they sure are fun and memorable!  At Discovery we like to say that we do not take ourselves very seriously... but we do take God very seriously.  So what if we use these fun and nostalgic films this December to help us illustrate the infinitely more important and eternal purpose of Christmas - for unto us a child was born in the city of David - a savior, who is Christ the Lord!   Join us all December long!
