This week, Dr. Kenefake, our new Interim Senior Minister, will reflect on one of the oldest stories in the Hebrew Bible (maybe  the  oldest story in the Bible according to many scholars; a story that dates back to the 12 th
century BCE)-the story of the Prophetess and Judge, Deborah. Ask yourself: What does it tell us about the ancient Hebrew people during the Conquest of Canaan that they carefully preserved this story about a strong, independent female political, religious, and military leader? It's a story that has many implications for contemporary church and society! 
 

The Geneva Choir will sing  I Will Sing with the Spirit at the 8:30 service.
The Chancel will sing Psalm 100 at the 11:00 service .

This Sunday we celebrate the people and Christian caregiving of Stephen Ministry. We have 32 trained DCPC members committed to listening to, supporting, and praying for others within the congregation and community during difficult times. Please join the Fellowship Ministry on Sunday, this Sunday for an opportunity for DCPC folks to share in a meal together after worship. After the 11 a.m. service, meet near the front steps of the Sanctuary. After a blessing, we will walk to Vail Commons Dining Hall on the campus of Davidson College. The atmosphere in the dining hall on Sundays is wonderful and will provide a great opportunity for our DCPC community to sit together and enjoy fellowship and great food. Advent Wreath Making
The DCPC Advent wreath making  will take place Sunday, December 3 at 3:00 p.m., in Jetton Hall. Wreath forms and candles will be available, along with some greenery to create your special Advent Wreath. Please reserve your space by emailing Rhonda Boggs  by Monday, November 20 to ensure we have enough materials. The cost will be approximately $20 for the materials. Please bring clippers and any pretty greenery you have (boxwood, magnolia, arborvitae, yew, berries, for example) to share.
Angel Tree
DCPC invites you to help sponsor dozens of families from our community during our Angel Tree 2017 project through Wednesday, December 13. The Angel Tree can be found on the bulletin board beside the main office on November 29. There will be specific instructions about how to participate in this project on the bulletin board. You may contact Stephanie Rollans or 704-892-5641 ext. 12) with any questions. Christmas in Davidson
Share the joy of Christmas and be a part of the hospitality! Volunteers are needed to help host activities at DCPC during Christmas in Davidson (Nov. 30-Dec 2). Please sign up online to be a "host" (CLICK HERE) You can also email  [email protected]  to volunteer or ask questions.  We are once again partnering with the town to host Santa (which brought over 1,500 people through our doors last year) and musical performances in the main building each night.

Christmas Decorations    
Our church will be decorated with flowers and fresh greenery for the Christmas season on Friday, December 1. If you would like to help decorate, come to the sanctuary at 9:15 a.m. Please bring clippers. To contribute to the purchase of the Christmas decorations, please make your check payable to DCPC with Christmas decorations on the memo line. Email Rhonda Boggs  in the church office with your in memory and honor of information (click here) or  forms are available at  the information center. Please return forms no later than December 10. Acknowledgments will be included in the bulletins on Sunday, December 17 and 24 .
Solace for the Children    
  Solace for the Children is gearing up for the 2018 Summer Medical Program marking 11 years of faithfully serving children from war-torn
countries. We hope to bring 8-10 amazing children from Afghanistan for medical care and peace building activities for six weeks during June/July, 2018. Adult:
Covenant (9:45 a.m. Congregation House) November 19, 26- Rev. Charles Raynal, former pastor of this church, will present four sessions on the Gospel of Mark, which may have been the first literary interpretation of the tradition about Jesus in the earliest Christian community. We recognize its contributions to the other gospels. However its own particular vision of the Gospel of God brought by Jesus of Nazareth into Galilee is completing. In looking at Jesus through four responses to him we have unforgettable testimonies to the ministry of Jesus. In the four Sundays in November we shall examine Jesus' impact on an unnamed leper he touched (1:40-45), on an unnamed woman at Bethany (14:3-9), on Simon Peter (8:27-9:1, 14:32-41, 66-72), and on an unnamed Roman centurion and Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Jesus, and Salome, who witnessed his crucifixion and death (15:33-16:8). What can we learn from them as we think again about our response to Jesus?
