Message from President Nino 

As student government continues to meet with campus administrators, it's important that we reminded  ourselves that we represent the voice of all students here at the Beach. We must always remember that as we work with our allies to determine new safety initiatives on campus, trainings for our employees to help them better serve our students  and ways to better steward student fees - a dvocating for students needs is our chief objective.

We can all be agents of change and if we want to see conditions for our students continue to improve we must work with one another to accomplish our goals. Success is not created individually, it requires us to all work with our allies in the classroom, in the administration and in our community. Know that ASI and I will continue to be your voice and work towards continued success for our students, we are here for you.

IN THE SENATE  
Wednesdays - 3:30 p.m. Farber Senate Chambers (USU-234)

 Senate passed the final reading of their policy agenda for the year. The board also approved a resolution in support of Rise California's campaign for free tuition.
LOBY CORPS
Thursdays - 12:30 p.m. (USU 234 )

Lobby Corps continues to support DREAM Act 2017 efforts by tabling, phone banking, and planning district visits with local legislators. The board passed the final reading of their policy agenda and discussed strategies to utilize with Rise California's campaign for free college tuition. Their aim is to educate and encourage students and to get them involved in the push for free college for all.

Last week, the BOC approved a total amounting more than $5,000 for programming, travel and research grants.

JaQuea Willis (JQ) was one of those awarded. Her work ss a graduate student in the Student Development in Higher Education (SDHE) program will be presenting her research at NASPA, along with her co-author, on formerly incarcerated students and the advantages of pursuing a degree in higher education. NASPA is the leading association for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs prof ession. For info about their work, visit  https://www.naspa.org/about . Great work, JQ.
