When asked about his motivation for organizing a panel discussion on the Rohingya crisis, journalist Francis Wade replies that " the organizers were particularly keen to have both Rohingya and Rakhine come together and speak on this issue, and we're very lucky to have been given the rare opportunity to do so, particularly given how stigmatized and, frankly, dangerous it is for people from either side of the communal divide to interact right now."

Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, president of Sri Lanka from 1994-2005, visited Harvard to speak about the c ivil war between the two main ethnic groups of Sri Lanka - the Sinhalese and the Tamils. President Kumaratunga discussed how she navigated the emotional and identity-based complexities of the conflict.
