LIVE IN NOVEMBER
LEARN NEW SKILLS AND MAKE NEW CONNECTIONS!

You don't want to miss these incredible events in November!

GET AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE ART AND BUSINESS OF SCORING FOR FILM AND TELEVISION: On WEDNESDAY, NOV. 1, at 7 p.m. at Local 802, learn the process of creating a great score. From hiring and working with a composer to licensing songs, we'll walk through common challenges filmmakers face in assembling soundtracks for feature films, TV or independent projects. Leading members of the New York film/TV music community will share their expertise and answer your questions.

LEARN LIVE WITH THE MUSIC OF COUNT BASIE: On THURSDAY, NOV. 2, at 4 p.m. at Local 802, join Local 802 member Ed Joffe in an exciting educational event that will explore the big band music of Count Basie as it relates to the foundation of large jazz ensemble performance. Whether you are a working professional, a teacher or a student, we hope you will join us for this informative clinic.

FIND YOUR CREATIVE AUTONOMY: On MONDAY, NOV. 6 at 3:30 p.m. at the Manhattan School of Music, join Jason Moran, Jazzmeia Horn and Wayne Winborne in a discussion of "creative autonomy" for younger and emerging jazz performers and composers. How do you find your own voice in jazz? What does it mean to be autonomous in a world that often encourages accommodation or assimilation? How do we as jazz artists remain true to our vision and principles while negotiating the contemporary marketplace, shifting audience demographics and diminishing support for the arts by our government institutions?
