ST. LOUIS (November 17, 2017) On Tuesday, Nov. 21 beginning at 11:45 a.m., refugees and immigrants will experience their first traditional Thanksgiving Celebration at the International Institute of St. Louis, 3401 Arsenal St.
The International Institute, in company with its students, clients, agency staff, city and county officials and honored guests, has celebrated the customary feast for more than 20 years.
Recognizing the large, positive impact refugees and immigrants have on the St. Louis regional economy and on cultural diversity, the Institute seeks to help immerse newcomers in American culture. The annual Thanksgiving Celebration is a prime example of these efforts.
Event highlights include a sing-a-long rendition of This Land is Your Land, lessons on Thanksgiving history and customs, practice with weights and measures as they estimate the circumference of a pumpkin and other measurements using seasonal items, and of course a traditional Thanksgiving Feast!
