Sex Ed Boot Camp: Getting in Shape for Those Tough Questions (Workshop) 

Planned Parenthood will be hosting a workshop designed to support adults who work in youth-serving programs, on how to better manage 'sex topics' or questions, so that kids get real information, stay safe, and adults feel they can answer questions in a more empowered, less stressful way. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 1 from 1:00PM-5:00PM.  R egistration is $15 for one person or $10 per person for 2 or more people from the same organization.  For more information please email [email protected].

 

Supporting Transgender Individuals & Communities through Excellence (Workshop)

Collective STEP for Youth will host a free Bullying Prevention Training on November 7th at St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance from 9:00AM-4:30PM. This training is designed for professionals working with youth. Register by November 3.   

 

Texas Campaign Symposium: Call for Presentations. The Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy is seeking presentations for their 7th Annual Symposium. The National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) Call for Proposals

The National Indian Child Welfare Association's 36th Annual Protecting Our Children conference is seeking abstract submissions for its April 15-18, 2018, conference to be held in Anchorage, AK. Key presentation topics are family and youth involvement, children's mental health, child welfare, and judicial and legal affairs.   Accepting proposals until Thursday, November 16. 

 

Immigration as a Social Determinant of Health (Workshop)

NASEM Health and Medicine will be hosting a roundtable, one day workshop on November 28 in Oakland, CA. This public workshop will feature invited speaker presentations and discussions that will consider the history of immigration laws and policies and how these laws and policies affect not only immigrant health, but population health more broadly. Museums for All is a cooperative initiative which offers a signature access program that encourages families of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. This program offers individual admission fees ranging from free to $3.00 to individuals and families presenting an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, and a valid form of photo ID.  Learn more here about participating museums.

Talking to Children About Tragedies & Other News Events-This guide provides information about how to talk with children about events that any child may learn about from social media, friends at school or television. It provides some signs that a child is not coping well with the news about a shooting, natural disaster or some other incident.
