500th Anniversary of the Reformation
On October 29, 2017 , we will commemorate our Reformation-era heritage with two special services:
8:45 a.m. --  Join us in Memorial Garden for bagpipes, acoustic music and reflections on our Reformed Heritage. Please bring a folding chair or blanket as none will be provided. Note also that the weather forecast is showing a chance of rain, so please be prepared for that contingency.
11 :00 a.m -- In the Sanctuary, we will be blessed by music from a special ensemble of brass instruments who will supplement our traditional liturgy and order of worship.
Lemonade Stand Welcoming Event
Take a few minutes this Sunday to welcome and meet all new members and visitors of FPC.  Everyone is invited for free lemonade and cookies immediately following the 11:00 a.m. service.
Special Adult Class on the Reformation
In recognition of Reformation Sunday (10/29), Peter Bynum will be presenting a special class on the basics of the Protestant Reformation during the Sunday School hour. Come join us in Davis Hall for a refresher on why we, as Presbyterians, owe so much to this sixteenth-century theological upheaval in the church.
Wednesday Night Fellowship
All Saints Day Worship
Our Wednesday Night Fellowship coincides with All Saint's day this year, which is a day to celebrate the saints who have faithfully served the Lord.  Please join us for dinner followed by a special service of worship where we will remember and give thanks for the saints of the church who have contributed to the life and ministry of our church community.  Menu:  spaghetti, salad, mixed vegetables, fruit, dessert.
Volunteers Needed
We need your help!    Sign up  here  to be a lay liturgist to read scripture in worship.  Sign up  here  to be a Shepherd in the children and youth's Sunday School classrooms. Being a Shepherd helps to keep our classrooms safe and it supports our teachers. Thank you for signing up!
Disaster Relief Buckets
On behalf of the Presbyterian Women's circles, Linda Barnett recently coordinated the collection of 16 buckets for Disaster Relief clean-up. These buckets, which contain items specifically requested by the Presbyterian Disaster Relief Team, will be taken to the Charlotte Presbytery office for distribution as needed after the recent hurricane devastation in Texas and Florida.  Our circles contributed 15 buckets and the Youth Group did one. Thank you to all who helped out on this great project!
Work Day Scheduled for November 4th
On Saturday, November 4th, from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., we need you to help us clean and spruce up our church grounds and parking areas.  All volunteers should bring your own work gloves and any tools you think might be useful.  A light breakfast snack will be available in the Fellowship House at 8:30 a.m..
Youth Trip
Camp Grier Weekend is November 3-5!
All Middle and High School Youth are invited to come get away for the weekend as we head to Camp Grier, a Presbyterian Camp in Old Fort, NC. The plan is to leave Friday evening, work and play on Saturday, then we will return on Sunday morning and be back by noon. It is sure to be a great weekend in the mountains!
The cost is $100 per youth. If you are interested in participating in the weekend, please let Rachel know as soon as possible and please turn in your payment by Sunday, 10/29.
