A Special Note of Thanks
The Grace community offers special thanks to Jim Waechter and Paul Olson for sharing the joy of their marriage with us by hosting the Coffee Hour last Sunday, November 12. We also offer our thanks to the many helping hands that ensured the event's success, especially to Franklin Stone and her team.

We are so happy for Jim and Paul, and we wish them many joyful years together!

Heights and Hills Thanksgiving Day Dinner

Now in its 46th year, Grace Church Brooklyn Heights will host a Noon-time Thanksgiving feast for 200 local homebound senior citizens, in a true community effort co-sponsored by Heights and Hills, Grace Church and the Cobble Hill Health Center, with assistance from the 84th Precinct and the wider Brooklyn Heights community. Grace Church provides the wonderful location, with table settings, paper goods and coffee — and pies are baked and donated by people locally, including Grace members, as is a tradition! Heights and Hills supplies the rest of the trimmings.

Volunteers are needed for hospitality and other logistical support at Grace Church with serving and set up. Please contact Betsy Guttmacher of Heights and Hills in advance to volunteer on behalf of the Grace community to RSVP your volunteer time. Home-baked pies brought to Grace on Wednesday or Thanksgiving Day for the dinner itself or for guests to take home are most especially encouraged!

East Brooklyn Congregations Housing Initiative Meetings Sunday, November 19 and Thursday, November 30
I want to invite everyone who attended the rain-soaked EBC housing rally at City Hall on October 9 to meet in the North Room at 10 am this coming Sunday, November 19 , to learn what people felt about the rally and discuss next steps for Grace with EBC (East Brooklyn Congregations). Matthew Marienthal, our EBC organizer, will join us.

Meanwhile, EBC continues to press the mayor to embrace its senior housing plan. The next step will be a meeting at St. Paul Community Baptist Church on Thursday evening, November 30, at which candidates for City Council Speaker will discuss the EBC housing plan, along with Public Advocate Letitia James. Anyone from Grace is invited to attend.

Thank you, Mark McIntyre

Save the Date: Stroller Group Christmas Brunch Sunday, December 10

We can hardly believe it, but December is just around the corner, which means our annual Christmas brunch is too! Please join us downstairs in the Gym on Sunday, December 10 , immediately following the 9:15 am Family Service, to decorate gingerbread houses!  We will be decorating to benefit our friends at Habitat for Humanity and suggest a donation of at least $5 for each house . We'd greatly appreciate it if everyone remembers to bring their donations to the brunch--it is difficult to ensure that all donations offered after-the-fact make it to our friends over at Habitat.

Since this is such a big event, we want to make sure everyone will be properly fed while decorating--please let us know if you can bring a dish to share! A couple of our younger members have food allergies so if your dish includes nuts, please be sure to include a label for it. Thank you and please be in touch if you have any questions, with Lauren or Becky

Grace Church Christmas Pageant Sunday, December 17
It's time! This year's pageant is coming up - Sunday, December 17 at the 11 am service . Everyone (not just Pageant Parents!) should click here to find out more and how to get involved.

Most roles are open, so please discuss with your kids (ages 3 to 14) who they'd like to portray. Clear your calendars for three Saturday morning rehearsals on Saturdays, December 2, December 9, and December 16 . All rehearsals will begin promptly at 9 am and end by 11 am.

Please contact Brianna McCarty with any questions.

Don't miss this opportunity to share in a very special tradition here at Grace!

Following all those interviews, the Committee will provide Bishop Provenzano, and then the Wardens and Vestry, the names of three final candidates for the Wardens and Vestry to interview.

The Committee is grateful for the prayers and support of the clergy, the Wardens, the Vestry and the entire parish throughout this important process of transition.
