The 16th Annual Awards Celebration on September 12 was an exciting celebration for all - those who generously donated to Impact 100 as well as those who shared their hearts to tell us what they dream of doing! Impact 100 is looking forward to hearing more about the transformations to come as a result of the FOUR grants awarded that evening! The recipients of these grants of $101,000 each are:
Ohio Valley Voices -
Audiology Clinic Expansion,
Northern Kentucky
Community Action Commission -
Lincoln Grant Scholar House, Lighthouse Youth & Family Services - Agricultural Learning Center,
First Step Home -
The Terry Schoenling Home for Mothers and Infants Program
! I would like to especially thank our generous, passionate members who so willingly give in order to make a difference in our community by funding these grants.
The capacity crowd of 400 members, guests and sponsors who attended the event was impressed by all seven finalists! In addition to the four grants awarded above, Impact 100 was able to offer a check for $1000 to support the purchase of Wish List items of the three agencies who did not receive a grant: St. Joseph Home,
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, and
Children's Home of Northern Kentucky
. We would like to thank all 115 agencies that submitted a Letter of Intent grant request.
We are ready to begin our next grant cycle this month as we hold information sessions for those nonprofit agencies interested in applying for a grant in 2018. In order to continue funding these grants we are recruiting members for 2018 as well!
If you are currently a member of Impact 100 - we encourage you to renew your membership for 2018. If you are considering joining as a new member, we encourage you to learn more about our wonderful organization - and to join.  MEMBERS are our best source for bringing in new members. And we are excited to share that we have some great opportunities coming up for you to introduce your friends to Impact 100.  We are very excited to be rolling out our new website. It can still be found at the same address:
www.impact100.org
, but allows much easier access on your phone or tablet, and also allows membership payments directly through the website. We are indebted to the website committee,
Sue Baggott, Clare Blankemeyer, Sarah Buckley, Angie Otis, Kristen Wevers,
for their work to ensure our new website would better assist our members and nonprofit partners.
As you check it out be sure to scroll up and notice all the changes. We added a membership 'thermometer' on the home page showing where we stand on our membership dollars for 2018. We plan to update this regularly for our members to follow our progress.

Luann Scherer
Who am I?
I am a retired nurse who is passionate about volunteering at Hospice of Cincinnati. I've been married for 30 years and have four daughters. I did not grow up here so joining Impact 100 gave me the opportunity to finally wrap my arms around Cincinnati and call it my hometown. I felt like I learned more about what the city's problems were and who was addressing those issues in an efficient and effective manner. It really helped me to be exposed to a lot of nonprofits. Through that, I was able to realize that I was most passionate about Hospice of Cincinnati, so I then got further involved there.
What made me want to join Impact 100?
I will always be a member of Impact 100, it has deeply influenced the way my husband and I discern what are good investments along philanthropic lines. My husband has attended a couple of AAC events. He finds it just as exciting and inspiring as I do.
What keeps me a member of Impact?
In addition to the important lessons I learned about vetting nonprofit organizations, the thing that makes me happiest is the fact that I have so many friends in Impact 100. I joined with one friend but I have met so many like-minded women! There is an immediate affection that is easily established with so many other members. The focus committees are a wonderful place to meet and get to know new people. I have met women from across the city that I would never had the opportunity to get to know without Impart 100. They are some of the finest women I know!
