Junior Rowing Team updates
Partnerships with Pinecrest, Basic, Foothill and Faith Lutheran brings in 30 + rowers
The LLVRC Junior program is now over 35 students from 14 different schools around Henderson. They are training hard and slowly learning how to row. Just this week we started rowing all 8, but with blades on the water. Most athletes come 3 days a week, but there are a few that come everyday! They are looking forward to their first race at the San Diego Fall Classic November 12th. We are still recruiting through October 14th and hope to have a total of 60 kids on the team by then. New Fleet of Used boats are on the way!
Thanks to the generosity of so many of Jim's coaching friends around the region, the LLVRC is acquiring a fleet of used boats for under $ 10,000. We are purchasing 1 -8+, 3 4+'s 3 -2x-'s, 1 single and sculling oars from UCLA and Newport Aquatic Center. Jim will be travelling soon to pick these up. Then we have worked a fantastic deal with Willamette University for most of their rowing equipment after they shut down their program over a year ago. Many of these boats have been damaged in storage, but can be fixed and will be nice additions for our program. We will be getting 4 8+'s, 2 4+'s, 2 2x-'s, cox boxes, oars and another aluminum racks. River City is donating 3 8+'s and 1 4+ and all of this equipment will be arriving on October 15th. Now we need a boathouse! or just warehouse to store most of the equipment so we can work on it. Let me know if you have any leads on space.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to help us purchase these boats; Click HERE
Junior Rower Izi accepts a scholarship to U of Texas
Our Die Hard Rower Isabella Fimbres, accepted a partial scholarship and will be attending the University of Texas next fall! All of her hard work, mostly by herself, has paid off. She loved her visit to the school and the coaching staff made her feel like part of the family. She is excited for the future. She will be rowing as the only LLVRC Varsity rower this year and thanks to Board Member David Pellew, will be training in a single soon.
