We learned Excel basics, organized the workload, and made sales calls this week. Thank you for those of you who are supporting this group business.

Students will take shifts between 10 am -3 pm to work the booth at the Expo. We will submit the schedule to the schools on Wednesday.

Friday, Sept. 29th - Work Day

ClassE meets daily from 8 - 9:20 am, Lifespan Center (unless noted above), 11021 E. Cty. Rd. 800 N., Charleston (Loxa Road - northeast of SBLHS). Class is open and everyone is welcome.
Tour of Wells Fargo Advisors

Gary Swearingin, Managing Partner of Wells Fargo Advisors, talked to the class about pivotal choices you will make in your life. He discussed the importance of persistence, the ability to adapt, focusing on goals, managing time, and challenging the norm. With every topic, he had an example from his career to illustrate what it may look like for the students.


   Getti ng Organized & Learning Excel


      Organization is the key to managing a successful         golf  scramble. Students learned the basics of Excel       and were then asked to make a form that their               committee will use to help run the event.    

      The student s compiled a list and divided sales               calls, so if you haven't yet been contacted , you             may still get a call. 

  Joyce Madigan, partner at Gilbert, Metzger,               Madigan, LLP., helped the class learn how to copy   pages, sort on a spreadsheet and where to find         Excel templates to save time on the creation of a     new document. 
Tour of Powersports HQ

Jim Short and Jim Dye, co-owners of Powersports HQ, spoke to the group about how they began their business 4 years ago. Jim told the class to be ready to have some surprises and delays when starting, because there are many licenses, fees, building inspections and rules about signage that may slow your progress. 

Students learned very specific tools that businesses use to finance their inventory including floor plan financing and line of credit. Jim Dye discussed branding, and how they market their products to different target market based on the attributes of the vehicle. He also discussed personal branding that the students can work on now to make sure they have good reputations in the future.
