Covering everything from flavours, stability during heating, quality and the importance of freshness, it’s great information. Listen here (starts at 30:30 mins).

Food Safety Act National Programme workshops
Olives NZ EO Gayle Sheridan has sent a reminder to members that Farmers Market management and retail stores now require National Programme registrations. Olives NZ has worked with Food and Health Standards on an industry-specific National Programme template and has now arranged for regional workshops to be made available to take growers through completing the NP1 and NP3 documents. ONZ branch chairs have information on the costs involved: please let your regional committee know if you would like to attend a workshop.
More information on the time/cost required for the verification process here .
Processing Practices Seminar
Olives New Zealand has had requests to repeat the well-received two-day seminar on How Processing Practice impacts on Quality (e.g. Gold medals) and Quantity which it held in April 2016. The proposed seminar would be held in Auckland in April 2018, with the cost being $500 (GST incl) for members or $1,000 for non-members.
Expressions of interest are required to ensure sufficient numbers to confirm arrangements – the current four interested would see the seminar not proceed – so anyone interested in attended is asked to advise EO Gayle Sheridan ASAP – admin@olivesnz.org.nz. Decision time is mid-December, so get in touch now!
