Stan Rumbough, formerly the CEO of the Palm Beach Civic Association, died last night at home in Palm Beach, surrounded by his family and friends. Stan was our highly respected leader for many years and our close personal friend.  He loved Palm Beach with a passion and inspired us to strive for a better community. 
 
"Stan loved Palm Beach," said Ned Barnes, president of the Civic Association. "He was dedicated to making the Town a better place to live.  He had countless friends including me.  I feel so grateful to have known this extraordinary man."

Lee Becomes 5th Major Hurricane

Hurricane Lee may come in a little package with hurricane-force winds extending out only 35 miles, but it's got some punch. The National Hurricane Center said at its 11 a.m. advisory that Lee has powered up to 115 mph, making it a Category 3 storm and the fifth tropical cyclone this season to earn the title of major hurricane.

Scott Lewis Eagles' Wings Foundation Takes Flight Into Puerto Rico

"Palm Beachers are stepping up to fund flights." Stay tuned.
In response to the impact of Hurricane Maria, the Eagles' Wings Foundation (EWF) deployed nine rescuers to San Juan, Puerto Rico to evacuate elderly citizens that required immediate transport to South Florida. 
"These senior citizens had medical conditions that required constant attention, said Scott Lewis, founder and president of the foundation.

Palm Beach Eyeing 5 Percent Property Tax Hike

The Town Council plans a 5.4 percent property tax hike that would pump about $3 million more into town coffers. The tax increase would be part of an $81.5 million operating budget the council approved Tuesday for the budget year that begins Oct. 1.

City to Shut 2 Flagler Lanes, Opening Them for Walking, Bicycling

West Palm will divide its drive beside the Intracoastal Waterway downtown on a test basis starting Oct. 7, handing the eastern half of Flagler Drive to bicyclists and pedestrians "so that they can enjoy all of the beauty that is the waterfront area," Economic Development Director Christopher Roog said Monday.
